Following his 2023 musical diary, May It Never Falter sees glaive face reality once more during a trip to Iceland, reflecting on his losses, how he’s grown, and most importantly himself. With an upbeat medieval theme soaring throughout the tracklist, moody songs like “joel” and “By Birthright” stand out as glaive reflects on the people he’s lost, whilst other notable tracks dive into his homicidal thoughts, although not out of the ordinary.
“For God and Country,” boldly expressing glaive’s religious beliefs, begins the album on a slower, sunrise-aesthetic build up before welcoming the electronics into the album, which fluctuate throughout with a mix of a bit of a mad one reminiscent instrumentals, such as “ik” and “Knock, Draw, Release.” Nearing the end, “Nobodys Fault / Accept My Own” brings out the medieval theme of the album, making final references to his music throughout 2024, before the album ends in salutations to Iceland.
Production for the “no singles” album began in April 2024 when glaive, photographer Tommy Pointer, and the producers for January 2024’s Alaska-made a bit of a mad one took a two-week visit to Iceland. Throughout this trip, lyrics would be subtly tweeted as teasers and progress updates, but no snippet would come out until the following month. He would begin a more formal rollout amidst August, where he planned to—although didn’t follow through—post three snippets a week. Releasing the eighth snippet in late September, he would surprise release “Live & Direct,” his first official release with a feature, on October 4, contradicting his original statement. He touched more on this on a podcast recorded that day, where he first claimed the album would release on the 11th. This unusual announcement would be followed by a series of tweets, including a thread with “The Big DILF,” who was granted the privilege of deciding on the final release date.

By Birthright. glaive revealed this on a Twitch stream in May 2024: however, he announced that he was changing the name in June.
glaive spoke on the title after he revealed it on a Twitch live stream:
It’s called By Birthright, because of, um, because my dad when we were talking about, uh, or not my dad, my mom, we were talking about, like, uh, like, like, not feeling like you deserve certain things and she said that, she said that anything that you believe you, anything that has happened to you, you deserve, because it is, it is yours by birthright. It is yours by birthright and she told me that.
glaive is with the Icelandic model Ragnheiður Gudjonsdottir.
