The build-up to Christmas is often synonymous with the joy of opening an advent calendar each day, revealing either a luxurious beauty treat or the comforting familiarity of chocolate.
However, some owners of the Celebrations advent calendar are less than thrilled this year, having been greeted by the same unpopular chocolate for the first three days.
A feeling of discontent has been bubbling on Mumsnet, where one user expressed: "So, day one and day two have been Bounty's. The kids are not impressed. My son has just opened day three, and yep, you guessed it, it's another Bounty!"
The concerned parent pondered on Mumsnet if finding "three in a row" was a jest, pondering: "I'm wondering if they're all going to be Bounty's," as frustration simmered.
She isn't alone, with many voicing their astonishment on X, previously known as Twitter. Outbursts range from bewilderment to fury, with one man exclaiming: "Kids are actually crying at having a third Bounty in a row in their Celebrations Advent calendar. It's an absolute shocker."
Another person's patience wore thin, venting: "Had enough of this advent calendar now... Celebrations Advent calendar [with] three days of Bounty. The whole lot is about to get launched out a window in flames. Absolutely fuming."
One user expressed their outrage, labelling the advent calendar a "disgrace" and complaining: "Celebrations are definitely trying to take the p*** with these advent calendars."
Another X user speculated it might be a deliberate "PR stunt". This isn't the first time the advent calendar has sparked controversy. In 2020, it featured four consecutive Bounty's, prompting fans to label it a "sick joke".
A similar incident occurred in 2019, with two Bounty's appearing behind consecutive doors.
On Mumsnet, one user commented: "They did this a few years ago... caused outrage and their social media was blowing up because of it. I love a Bounty."
Another user added: "The Bounty should be banned. Who on Earth thinks that coconut is an acceptable filling for a bar of chocolate? My brother went through three tubs of Celebrations (lockdown Christmas 2020) and discovered all three had a disproportionately high Bounty/good ones ratio. If you get a fourth, I would be writing a stern email."
A environmentally-conscious mother shared her solution: "I have a felt calendar and put celebrations in myself. Saves a bunch of disappointment and is better for the environment."
A Celebrations spokesperson told us: "Christmas isn’t Christmas without the annual chocolate debate. Whilst we know Bounty isn't everyone's cup of tea, we also know that for some of you these first few days will have gone straight on the nice list! Our calendars are all about sharing and surprises, so rest assured more variety is on the way behind the other doors. Watch this space, the nationwide chocolate debate is about to get even more intense…."
