Over the past weeks, our team in #Aboutengue camp hosted performances by Clowns Sans Frontières/ #ClownsWithoutBorders, bringing moments of relief and laughter to children and adults alike. The camp shelters around 45,000 Sudanese refugees who fled Darfur, majority of whom are children. The Clowns Sans Frontières show is part of our mental wellbeing support activities for refugees. Since the beginning of 2024, we have provided 2,283 mental health consultations in this camp. MSF has been present in Aboutengue camp for nearly a year and a half, delivering critical medical and humanitarian assistance.

Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) recently delivered critical support to families displaced by violence in Kurram District, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in #Pakistan. In Hangu, MSF provided 120 hygiene kits and other essential non-food items to help meet immediate needs within the temporarily established camps. MSF also installed additional water tanks in the camp in Thall to address the vital water and sanitation needs. In addition, to address the urgent medical shortages due to the increasing patient load, MSF also donated essential medicines and medical supplies to Thall type D Hospital and Hangu type D Hospital. These facilities have been under significant strain as they work to care for the rising number of displaced individuals in the area. ⬇️

On World Arabic Language Day, we showcase MSF's principles through the art of Arabic calligraphy. Médecins Sans Frontières provides assistance to populations in distress, to victims of natural or man-made disasters and to victims of armed conflict. They do so irrespective of race, religion, creed or political convictions. MSF observes neutrality and impartiality in the name of universal medical ethics and the right to humanitarian assistance and claims full and unhindered freedom in the exercise of its functions. ⬇️

📍In Torong Tonga, South Jebel Mara, South Darfur, on 9 December several children arrived at our clinic with measles. Their caretakers told us there were approximately 50 more people who were suspected to have measles in Wala Village, a remote community accessible only by a 7-hour donkey ride. On 11 December our MSF team set out to reach Wala. Medical supplies were loaded onto a camel, while staff traveled by donkey through the challenging mountainous terrain. #TalkAboutSudan

MSF offers assistance to people based on need and irrespective of race, religion, gender or political affiliation. As part of our social mission, we are committed towards #inclusion #diversity #equity #womenempowerment #genderequality. And a huge part of MSF is our members who undertake to respect MSF charter. Meet Moumina Mohamed Guedi, a national Staff in #Djibouti since 2017, serving as a Finance & HR Assistant. Moumina has broadened her expertise through various detachments, including roles as Finance & HR Manager in Chad and Mali, and as an HR Assistant in Aden. Prior to joining MSF, she built a solid foundation with over a decade of experience in logistics, working as Deputy Chief - Local Import Transit. Her versatile General Admin profile, combining skills in both HR and Finance, has made her an invaluable asset. This year marks an exciting milestone as she transitions to international staff, embarking on her first assignment as Finance/HR Manager in the #CentralAfricanRepublic, where she will serve for six months. Join us in congratulating Moumina on this incredible achievement and wishing her great success in her mission! Eliza rejoined MSF as an HRCO Assistant and, in January 2023, transitioned to the role of Admin Transit. In this capacity, she has demonstrated expertise in managing expatriate movements and maintaining effective communication with local authorities. This year, Eliza achieved a remarkable milestone, transitioning to international staff. Her first assignment was a remote role supporting #Gaza as Finance/HR Manager, and now she is currently on an exciting new chapter with the same role in #Afghanistan, where she will serve for six months. Her primary responsibilities include planning, coordinating, and implementing HR, administrative, and financial activities and policies within the project. She ensures compliance with legal obligations and adherence to MSF protocols, standards, and procedures. Her role is crucial in providing accurate, reliable, and transparent information on resource allocation and utilization, while also ensuring the HR capacity needed to achieve the project’s objectives. Let us all wish her a safe and successful mission! We’ve been bearing witness since 1971. And on 10 December 1999, Dr James Orbinski explained to the whole world why we do so during our acceptance speech for the Nobel Peace Prize. 25 years on, we are still committed to bearing witness. Because, as our colleagues say today in this re-creation of the speech, “We are not sure that words save lives, but we know that silence can certainly kill.”

As winter sets in, thousands of displaced families in #Lebanon face harsh conditions in destroyed homes, makeshift shelters, or abandoned buildings. The cold, combined with a lack of proper housing, puts countless lives—especially children and the elderly—at risk. During his visit to Lebanon in November, MSF Director of Operations Kenneth Lavelle, stated, "Temperatures at night are freezing, and we’re only at the start of winter. Urgent action is needed to meet basic survival needs." #MSF had scaled up its response during the war and continues to provide support after the ceasefire announcement, offering medical care, mobile clinics, and water and sanitation support in high-need areas. But with winter already here amid destruction, needs remain immense. The humanitarian crisis in Lebanon is far from over. 📽️ ⬇️
