A Year of Balance and Optimism for the PBC! 🚀 It's been a good year! We are pleased to celebrate the Portuguese Business Council - UAE first year of actual activity. It was a year of achievements, goals reached, and a lot of hard work, but rewarding nonetheless. The year of balance! I believe that success is built with time, rigour, and commitment. Through consistency in our actions and behaviours, we gain the trust needed to generate good business—the kind that everyone benefits from. And this year, we proved that in practice! The PBC was born from the belief in the potential of Portuguese projects and the vibrant energy of the United Arab Emirates, a rising nation and a strategic global hub. We have established solid foundations, built strategic partnerships, such as collaborating with the Portuguese Business Council - Kuwait, and developed concrete actions that fill us with pride. This was only possible thanks to the unconditional support of our members, partners, and Board Members—the true cornerstone of our success! We also thank the UAE entities for their warm welcome and support, making us feel at home and driving and guiding our members' projects efficiently. We feel catalysed by the dynamism of Abu Dhabi to do more and better every day! A special thanks to our partners: Abu Dhabi Chamber of Commerce and Industry; Abu Dhabi Department of Economic Development, Abu Dhabi Investment Office, Emirates Development Bank (EDB), AIM Congress, AICEP, Abu Dhabi Mobility, DOH or HAAD Licensed Professionals - Abu Dhabi, and to all who have dedicated their time and expertise to the PBC, such as Joana de Almeida, Ricardo Moço, Dr. Obaid Al Ketbi, Dr. khalifa Alobeidli, Andrew McDonald, Rolando Borges Martins, Frederico Fernandes, Kevin Iwanaga, Prof. Jorge Dias, Eng. A €1 billion budget in incentives is available for projects submitted by June 30, 2025. This program offers investors a unique opportunity to contribute to Portugal's transition towards a net-zero economy and to the rapid development of strategic sectors. 💡 Who can benefit from this support? Any company, regardless of size or sector, with investment projects above €110 million, located in any region in the country. This call is open for projects which promote : 🔋 the production of relevant equipment for the transition towards a net-zero economy, namely batteries, solar panels, wind turbines, heat pumps, electrolysers, and equipment for carbon capture usage and storage (CCUS); ⚙️ the production of key components designed and primarily used as direct input for the equipment mentioned above. ♻️ the production or recovery of related critical raw materials necessary for producing the equipment and key components needed to produce the above equipment and components. As part of a strategy to boost Portugal's economy and position it as a leader in innovation, AICEP is offering tailor-made support to create a welcoming environment for new investments. Francisco Costa, #AICEP's Director in São Paulo, highlights the importance of this partnership: "Portuguese olive oil is experiencing a period of stability in Brazil, with continued growth potential in line with the market size. It is aimed at millions of Brazilians who have not yet included olive oil in their diet." 💡 As the largest importer of olive oil in Latin America, Brazil offers immense opportunities for Portuguese producers. Furthering Dubai's leadership in future mobility, we launched the Middle East's first-of-its-kind drone delivery system today. We have directed teams to expand the system's coverage to 33% of Dubai. I thank all government entities and private sector partners who helped make this pioneering project a success.
