Ramadan is a big moment in marketing. (32M total engagements with Ramadan content in MENA in 2024) Yet most companies still don’t have a Ramadan content strategy. Maybe it’s because they don’t know what to post about. They don’t want to market a religious holiday - and rightly so. LinkedIn’s Ramadan Insights Report confirms it:  ↳ Brands that celebrate community through human content perform best. PS. What’s the best Ramadan community post you’ve seen this year? Drop it in the comments! 🤍

sumea social's Svenja Maltzahn on how to leverage LinkedIn culturally sensitively with the right success metrics focused on building brand trust through human content, community and connection during Ramadan. "When Ramadan ends, the conversations shouldn’t. The brands that focused on connection during the month continue to see engagement long after. Ramadan isn’t about quick wins. It’s about long-term brand trust. So, if you’re expecting immediate ROI, Ramadan might not be the time. But if your goal is to create a lasting impact, build genuine trust, and reinforce what your brand stands for, this is your moment," Matlzahn says, View the full article on the link below. #TheWork

Why do you want to start (or grow) your personal brand? Here’s what you said: 🔹 To sell my product or service – 40% 🔹 To attract my dream job – 45% 🔹 To accelerate my promotion – 5% 🔹 To get new investors – 10% Different goals, same approach → You need to start putting yourself out there. ✨ Looking for your dream job? Share insights that reflect how you think. Your next employer isn’t just reading CVs—they’re scrolling LinkedIn, looking for someone who stands out. ✨ Want to sell your product or service? People buy from people they trust. The simplest way to build that trust? Share what you know. Let your content show that you get it. ✨ Hoping for a promotion? Make sure to be top of mind when the time comes. Show your expertise, share your perspective, and contribute beyond your role. ✨ Need investors? The right people need to know you exist—and even more importantly, they need to believe in you. Your content is your pitch before the pitch. No matter your goal: Post content that lets people get to know you, trust you, and believe in you. 💜 PS: What’s been your biggest challenge in building your brand? I’d love to hear!

LinkedIn just released new data: Member engagement with Ramadan content in MENA grew by 39% from 2023 to 2024. Yet most brands don’t have a Ramadan content strategy. Having worked in the biggest PR agencies, I’ve seen it every year. The rush starts one or two days before Ramadan. Designers working over the weekend. A last-minute 'Ramadan Kareem' visual. And that's it. Opportunity missed. Ramadan in MENA shouldn't be just another post to tick off the box. It’s a month that shapes how people connect, reflect, and engage - including on LinkedIn. An actual Ramadan content strategy is about showing up with purpose through human stories, leadership that feels real, and content that celebrates community. No sales. Just brand awareness. 🤍

Is it a good idea to exhibit at a trade show just before Ramadan? If you had asked me before, I would have said no. Business slows down, and contracts rarely get signed. So why exhibit if everything pauses right after? But looking at it now, it’s actually a smart move. Take #IDEX in the defense industry that is on this week, right before Ramadan. No one is closing deals at the show. Yes, pre-agreed partnerships get announced, but actual sales? That takes time - sometimes years. In B2B tech, sales cycles aren’t as long, but they’re still not instant. The point here is that trade shows aren’t for sales anyways. They are for brand awareness. And here’s where Ramadan timing works in your favor: LinkedIn engagement on Ramadan-related content is up 39% YoY (LinkedIn, 2024). So exhibit, build connections, and lean into personal, organic Ramadan content. No hard selling, just visibility and human connections. Then, after Eid? Continue the conversation naturally.

“If I make it simple, people won’t see me as an expert.” I hear this all the time. People want to be thought leaders, so they overcomplicate. They think sounding complex justifies higher prices. Companies do the same. They think complexity = credibility. So this is where I come in. Bridging the gap between what my clients want and what actually works. They want authority. LinkedIn rewards clarity. They want to sound smart. But if people don’t understand you, they won’t engage with you. Good communication isn’t about looking impressive. It’s about being understood. If your content isn’t landing, it’s not because it’s too simple. It’s because it’s not clear enough. And if being sharp and concise was easy, everyone would do it. PS. What’s one piece of jargon you wish people would stop using?

Is Ramadan the right time to launch your brand? The Muslim holy month is a unique time in the region, bringing shifts in routines and a more reflective atmosphere. It can also be a great moment to launch a personal brand, says Svenja Maltzahn, founder at sumea social. She notes that social media engagement spikes, competition slows, and storytelling resonates more deeply. However, if your audience is primarily B2B or consistency is a challenge, waiting until after Eid Al Fitr may be better. She also says that a soft launch with reflective content now can build momentum for a bigger push post-Ramadan. Ultimately, it’s about connection and finding the right timing for you. Ramadan is around the corner, bringing with it a shift in daily routines and personal reflection. 🌙 But is it the right time to start building your personal brand? Having worked in the region for almost a decade now, creating content for government entities, CEOs, and decision-makers, this is a question I get asked every year. So, ahead of Ramadan, I want to share my thoughts with you.

At a trade fair, you might speak to 50 buyers in a day. On LinkedIn, your post can reach thousands daily—and it doesn’t stop there. Here’s why LinkedIn is a smart choice: ✅ No need to spend on flights, hotels, or travel. ✅ Your visibility isn’t tied to a single event—it lasts all year. ✅ You save on budget while scaling your reach. I’m not saying trade fairs don’t work. But why not diversify? Take just 20% of your marketing budget, invest it in LinkedIn, and watch what happens. Have you tried shifting part of your marketing strategy to LinkedIn yet?👇
