Last week, the official kickoff meeting for the R&D project "TUNSPEKT" took place over two days at the Dibit Measuring Technique headquarter in Innsbruck. The project, funded by the FFG (Austrian Research Promotion Agency), aims to develop an "Innovative Road Tunnel Inspection using AI Approaches", with a particular focus on examining hard-to-reach areas of tunnels. Over the course of two days, experts from various fields across the D-A-CH region (Germany, Austria, Switzerland) came together to discuss the project's goals, milestones, and challenges, while laying the foundation for successful collaboration. The kickoff meeting provided participants with the opportunity to familiarize themselves in detail with the project objectives and define the initial concrete steps. The "TUNSPEKT" project will make a significant contribution to the technological advancement of tunnel inspection in the coming years. We are looking forward to the next steps and the fruitful collaboration across the entire team. 🤝😍 #dibit #dibitMeasuringTechnique #tunnelscan #tunneling #wearedibit #project #meeting #technology #development #collaboration #team #tunnelinspection #FFG #AI

We congratulate our colleague MSc. Ghader Saadati and his co-authors on the publication of their paper “AI-Powered Geotechnics: Enhancing Rock Mass Classification for Safer Engineering Practices”, published in the journal Rock Mechanics and Rock Engineering. Well done! 👏
"🎉 Excited to Announce My Latest Publication! 🎉 I’m thrilled to share our new paper titled "AI‑Powered Geotechnics: Enhancing Rock Mass Classification for Safer Engineering Practices", published in the journal Rock Mechanics and Rock Engineering. 🔍 About the Paper: In this study, my esteemed co-authors and I explore the critical role of rock mass classification in geotechnical engineering, which is fundamental for stability analysis and safe engineering design. Traditional methods often fall short in capturing the complexities of three-dimensional joint occurrences, resulting in less precise calculations. Our research reviews 44 seminal articles and highlights the transformative impact of artificial intelligence (AI) on rock engineering. 🤖 Key Highlights: Comprehensive Review: Analyzed 44 studies that integrate AI into traditional rock mass classification methods, including Rock Quality Designation (RQD), Rock Mass Rating (RMR), Q-system, Basic Quality, and Hydropower Classification. Diverse AI Techniques: Identified 73 distinct algorithms applied 162 times in the literature, with techniques like Support Vector Machines (SVM), K-nearest neighbors (KNN), and Artificial Neural Networks (ANNs) demonstrating significant success. Future Insights: Highlights the integration of machine learning and meta-heuristic optimization methods, paving the way for greater predictive accuracy and precision in geotechnical analysis. 🌟 Why It Matters: By incorporating AI into rock engineering classification systems, we are ushering in a new era of predictive capabilities, ensuring safer, more efficient engineering practices for construction and subterranean projects. 🙏 Acknowledgments: I want to express my gratitude to my co-authors Barbara Schneider-Muntau (Soil Mechanics Innsbruck (SMI)), Sina Javankhoshdel, Javad Mohebi, from Academi, and Dr. Michael Mett, and Heiner Kontrus from Industry (Dibit Measuring Technique) for their invaluable contributions. 🔗 Read the Full Paper: https://lnkd.in/dpceFtVd I look forward to engaging with fellow professionals and researchers on the advancements in AI-powered geotechnics. Last week, we were honored to host a day of the 18th European Tunnel Seminar organized by David Klug. Dibit presented our cutting-edge scanning systems and technologies. Throughout the day, we were guiding the participants through the mega project Brenner Base Tunnel and they had the once-in-a-lifetime chance to watch a Tunnel-boring-machine (TBM) in action. The enthusiasm and curiosity displayed by everyone enriched the experience and sparked lively discussions about the Brenner Base Tunnel and our services. At the end of the day, we enjoyed a typical Austrian dinner, providing an excellent opportunity to further connect and share insights of our daily business. Many thanks to all the participants for their genuine interest and engagement. Last but not least, special thanks go to David Klug for his impeccable organization, which makes the Seminar an amazing experience year after year. We look forward to continuing these valuable conversations and collaborations in the future! 😍🤝 #dibit #dibitMeasuringTechnique #tunnelscan #tunneling #wearedibit #EuropeanTunnelSeminar #BrennerBaseTunnel #business #experience #collaboration #future #project #scanningsystem #technology

The Brenner Base Tunnel, one of Europe’s largest infrastructure projects, has achieved a significant milestone: The first breakthrough of the two Austrian main tunnels, the construction lots “H41 Sillschlucht - Pfons” and “H21 Sillschlucht,” on September 17th. This event marks not only a technical success but also a crucial step in alleviating traffic on the heavily used Brenner Pass. The Brenner Base Tunnel is a complex tunnel system with a total of over 220 kilometers of tunnels, of which 178 kilometers have already been completed. The first breakthrough signifies the completion of an important phase of construction. The project employs cutting-edge technology and environmentally friendly practices, aiming not only to enhance transport efficiency but also to reduce CO2 emissions. We are proud to be contributing to the exciting and multifaceted BBT project. #dibit #dibitMeasuringTechnique #tunnelscan #tunneling #wearedibit #BBT #BrennerBaseTunnel #milestone #success #tunnelsystem #construction #project #technology
