The Future of Seafood

Info

Revo Foods mission is to bring 3D Food Structuring to industrial scale for innovative new foods unseen before, with applications such as next-level meat alternatives. We developed the Revo Food Fabricator X2, which is the first machinery of its kind which allows the continuous production of 2 independent food materials (e.g. protein + fat) in shapes/forms which are not obtainable with more traditional production technology, leading to completely new food functionalities. In 2023, we launched the first product to showcase this technology, THE FILET - Inspired by Salmon, and are in the process of scaling the technology to larger volumes.

Enough product for big Xmas orders ✅ Nice description of Niccolo Galizzi that sometimes it is important to get out of your comfort zone to deliver what you promised, such as a long night-shift to get products to customers. Worth it though, as the whole team grows by overcoming such obstacles together…and more customers can enjoy THE FILET for their Xmas/New Year dinner. Well done! 👏

Head of Food Tech, Revo Foods

Last Thursday, the Revo Foods Team Leads traded laptops for hair nets and production shoes, taking on a 12-hour night shift alongside our factory team to meet pre-Christmas client orders. It was a humbling and rewarding experience—a chance to deepen our understanding of the efficiency of our production site while identifying areas for improvement. This unique opportunity allowed us to achieve three goals at once: 1️⃣ensuring timely deliveries for our clients, 2️⃣gaining valuable insights into processes and challenges we aim to tackle in 2025, and 3️⃣strengthening the bond within our Team Lead group. With our CEO Robin Simsa leading by example, we were reminded of what truly matters: our clients, our exceptional Revo teams, and the unbelievably transformative work we’re doing together. I may even say that I’d gladly take on another night like this if needed—though next time, a mandatory legs and feet massage for all of us will be non-negotiable! 🦶💪🎄 Victor Juarros Cebrian Vanessa Pessoa Martins David Petuzzi

This is a joint statement of the finalists of the XPRIZE Foundation’s Feed the Next Billion (FTNB) competition : The XPRIZE Foundation recently announced in a press release that the FTNB competition was concluded and “no grand prize winner was declared” ( https://lnkd.in/gA4ySyMx). After 4 years in the competition, this came as a surprise to the finalist teams. During the XPRIZE competition, the rules to win a prize (https://lnkd.in/gYEjdk-C ) were communicated in the detailed rules & regulations: -        The finalists’ products will be judged by different criteria, such as structure, nutritional profile and environmental footprint. -        Three criteria (food safety, size and protein content) are defined as pass/fail criteria. -        All other criteria are evaluated by scorecards. -        A grand prize totaling $10,000,000 will be awarded to the three teams whose solutions receive the highest scores following the final round of the competition. According to the technical testing and judging criteria, the finalists’ products were required to “closely mimic” certain characteristics of an animal origin product, as determined by scorecard. A rule regarding the amount of mimicry or threshold to be reached was not stated in detail. The final testing was conducted this summer in Abu Dhabi by a panel of 10 judges and 300 taste testers. The stated next milestone of the competition was the award ceremony to announce the winners of the grand prize. However, the XPRIZE Foundation announced in a press release that no grand prize winner was declared. The finalist teams are surprised by this decision as the rules of the competition state that the grand prize is to be awarded to the three finalists with the highest scores, given that all pass/fail criteria were met. No additional criteria were communicated to the finalist teams except those of the publicly available competition guidelines. Over the past 4 years, the finalists have committed significant time, effort, and substantial financial resources—collectively investing several million USD—to meet the rigorous technical criteria and milestones set forth in the FTNB competition. The finalist teams closely studied the rules set by XPRIZE during the competition in order to be eligible for a prize, which was assumed to be awarded to the 3 highest scoring teams, as per the publicly available competition guidelines. While we fully support the mission and goals of the XPRIZE Foundation and the FTNB competition in particular, we believe that due to this outcome, the FTNB competition could not fully live up to its goals. The prize(s) could have been a real recognition of some of the most advanced solutions in the emerging  alternative proteins industry and could have helped  create a more sustainable food system that can feed the world.
