Programme for Climate Adaptation and Resilience Building Solutions (#PARS) starting in #Lesotho 👏 Today, the kick-off meeting for the PARS Lesotho project was held in collaboration with Lesotho’s #GEF Operational Focal Point (OFP), government representatives, researchers, industry leaders, startups and other stakeholders. The PARS Lesotho Project is a groundbreaking initiative to create sustainable and impactful #climateadaptation and #resilience #solutions for the people in the country. Supported by the Global Environment Facility under the Least Developed Countries Fund (#LDCF), the PARS Lesotho project seeks to drive innovation, support local micro-, small and medium-sized enterprises (#MSMEs), and enhance resilience across critical sectors, including water, energy, and agriculture. By aligning with Lesotho's national policies and leveraging UNIDO's expertise, the project aspires to transform local communities and advance the nation’s climate adaptation efforts. During the meeting, GEF OFP of Lesotho, Ms. Qongqong Hoohlo, delivered opening remarks, emphasizing the severity of #climatechange in the country and the vital importance of future climate adaptation projects. This was followed by detailed presentations from UNIDO and ITPEnergised (part of SLR) on the scope and objectives of the PARS project. Participants expressed strong support for the project, recognizing its necessity and timely implementation. The meeting also included discussions on key topics such as the project’s scalability, the potential involvement of private financial institutions, and the specific allocation of project funds.
