The Future of Food – Alternative protein foods on the menu. Introducing Susie O'Neill, the keynote speaker for the Future Foods section of the Regional Innovation Summit, who will also be joined by her colleague Megan Redmond for the group panel 👏 Susie engages with Food Frontier's industry stakeholders across the alt proteins value chain to help grow our region’s protein supply with new, sustainable, and nutritious options that create value for businesses, primary producers, and consumers. Her connection with food and agriculture began on the family farm in NSW and grew through roles in sales, marketing, and executive positions at Bayer CropScience where she was responsible for the team that developed supply chain protocols for grain segregation and regulatory approval for GM canola in Australia🌾 Meg leads Food Frontier’s political, policy, and legislative advocacy and engagements with the Australian and New Zealand governments. She authored the 2024 position paper to governments Alternative Proteins and Australian Food Systems Transformation which advocates for the need to adopt a whole-of-government systems approach to transform how Australia produces, distributes, and consumes food as a climate change and health imperative. Tickets to see these speakers can be purchased through the following link: https://lnkd.in/eDzhWnjr Department of Jobs, Tourism, Science and Innovation, West Tech Fest, City of Busselton, South West Angels, Creative Tech Village, and South West Development Commission

In the final masterclass and wrap-up session for the HARVEST program at Wrays | Intellectual Property, our businesses reflected on their journey over the last few months, discussing the knowledge gained and all of the connections they have made. Exciting next steps for our cohort ranged from planning a robotics competition to getting their first prototype out in time for the next seeding, lining up farm trials, and applying for research collaboration grants with universities 🤖🚜 The cohort agreed that a major positive impact of the program was the opportunity to be among fellow entrepreneurs who have similar hurdles and solutions and the meaningful conversations they have had throughout the program, particularly with follow-ups after the pitch night opening up new avenues for their businesses. Everyone coming together from disparate fields with different ways of thinking is where the magic happens and getting their ideas out there to build critical momentum within funding and innovator circles was a key impact discussed. It was great to hear that most businesses are thinking about focussing their execution strategy on building partnerships because we all know that a key challenge for scaleups is trying to make a big change or create impact alone – collaboration is key to success 🎉

From automated sprayers to novel fungi, 10 #Agtech innovators pitched to an audience of about 100 at Perth’s home of #agriculture last night, The Royal Agricultural Society of Western Australia, for the AgriStart HARVEST Showcase. In its 7th year, the program continues to provide valuable support to up-and-coming #agtech startups looking to make a difference to sustainable agriculture 🌾 🍄🟫 Event highlights: ➡️ MC and WA agtech legend Simon Foley shared the incredible journey of Agworld, and how the founders shared vision and focus on culture contributed to the success.   ➡️ Minister for Agriculture, Hon. Jackie Jarvis MLC, got a break from Parliament to attend and acknowledged the value of programs like this for connecting startups to producers, and expressed her appreciation for all of the innovations that have come out of the HARVEST program since 2016 - “solving wicked problems that will assist us in changing the future”.   ➡️ Its not easy, but the 10 startups gave excellent 3-minute pitches and gained immense value from the follow-up networking at their business booths throughout the evening. Loved the video from Agquip too thanks, Robert Johnson!   ➡️ Congratulations to Mat Welch from Red Earth Pollen for being awarded the RASWA Innovation Scholarship presented by CEO Robyn Sermon. Well deserved with $2000 towards research/market development.   ➡️ Wouldn’t be an agrifood event without epic food and beverages – big shout out to our sponsors (and program alumni!) Hippie Kombucha and Rocky Ridge Brewing Co. for supplying quality drinks that are also sustainably produced. We also love drinking the RASWA show wine! 🍷🥂 Congratulations to our latest cohort, now joining an alumni of over 80 agtech startups that have completed the HARVEST program: ResonAg, Seaweedery, Squadrone | STEM engagement and mini-drone light shows, Red Earth Pollen Pty Ltd, Agarea, Agtecnic, The Fun Guy WA, Carbon101, eBottli, and Hy-Boost Technology 🎉 We can only keep our program free for participants and with no equity cost thanks to the critical support of our sponsors, both financially and through their expertise, networks, and connections. Thanks, Grains Research and Development Corporation, Department of Primary Industries & Regional Development, CSBP Fertilisers, Wrays | Intellectual Property, AgriFutures Australia, EZI Group Esperance Zone Innovation, and The Royal Agricultural Society of Western Australia. Applications for 2025 will open in February – contact info@innvoationcluster.com.au for more details!
