EUDR Enforcement Delayed – But Action Can’t Wait! The EU Parliament has just voted to give companies one extra year to comply with anti-deforestation rules—new deadline: 30 Dec 2025. Why this matters: • 420 million hectares of forest (larger than the EU!) lost between 1990–2020. • EU consumption drives 10% of global deforestation. • Hopefully, the intend of the EU will be an example for many others. What businesses should do now: • Use this extra year to strengthen supply chain transparency. • Proof legal compliance. • Perform value chain due diligence risk assessments. • Prioritise sustainability measures to hit compliance ahead of the curve. Recently I was formally invited by Chairman, Lord Marland of Odstock to participate in the Commonwealth Business Forum 2024 in Apia, Samoa. I was honoured to join a roundtable discussion on Digital Transformation and E-commerce. The event brought together industry leaders from across the Commonwealth, with discussions centred on how digital solutions can drive sustainable growth and foster inclusivity across developed and emerging markets. In a world where digital transformation is accelerating, especially for low-income farmers, these conversations are vital. AgUnity is dedicated to bringing accessible, impactful technology to underserved communities, bridging gaps in access, and unlocking economic potential. Yesterday, Trade and Investment Queensland hosted an end of year luncheon with #Queensland exporters based in the UK. This event was to thank each brilliant Queensland company for working with #TIQ Europe throughout 2024, and to encourage networking and business opportunities between the companies present.   It was a pleasure for me to welcome the eighteen Queensland #exporter representatives in attendance at #QueenslandHouse, travelling in from various parts of England. It was also a pleasure to welcome James Swanston, who provided a summary on lessons learned in #globally scaling his company, Voyage Control, currently operating in over 20 markets. Thank you, James, for your invaluable insights.   Major themes throughout yesterday's event included, 1) the advantages of #strategically positioning a business unit in Europe, 2) understanding the timeline and return on investment for marketing spend, and 3) the camaraderie between #Australian and #European businesses. Yesterday's event was hosted at #TIQ Europe’s Level One facility, a fantastic business facility for Queensland exporters in London. This year, the Level One facility has been utilised by Queensland organisations over 140 times, highlighting a vibrant year of business between #Queensland and #Europe.    The team and I in London, Frankfurt and Paris wish to thank all our clients for your engagement throughout 2024 and wish you all a safe and happy holiday period. Working alongside the team at AgUnity incrementally over the last ±12 months has taught me two things about their business: 1) They take their mission to digitise the hundreds of thousands –millions, if they can– of #smallholders that underpin global supply chains incredibly seriously. 2) In Peter Horsten, Stefan Barrett, Jean-François Chénier and Angus Rama Keck, they have the team to achieve it.
