Our Careers Team has been visiting schools across the Northern Territory throughout the year, sharing information about apprenticeships and traineeships. 💥 In a recent session at Palmerston College, we teamed up with Malones Butchery and Bridge Toyota Darwin & Palmerston to share insights on apprenticeships, featuring stories from employers and apprentices. Students had the chance to ask questions, making it an engaging and successful event. The Careers Team is excited to inspire more schools next year! “The Women in Male-Dominated Trades (WMDT) community is all about networking, mentoring, supporting each other, and providing the opportunity to connect and share experiences with other women working in male-dominated trades. The community is growing daily, and we recognize that by working together and supporting one another, this community will continue to grow and foster lifelong friendships.” – 𝘛𝘳𝘦𝘯𝘯𝘢 𝘎𝘪𝘣𝘴𝘰𝘯𝘦, 𝘎𝘦𝘯𝘦𝘳𝘢𝘭 𝘔𝘢𝘯𝘢𝘨𝘦𝘳 A little while back, we ran a competition to name our WMDT community. We received some amazing entries and ideas, but there can only be one winner! The winner of our naming competition is Anna Wesing, a current apprentice mechanic with Bridge Toyota Darwin & Palmerston, who also submitted the slogan, “𝐁𝐞𝐜𝐚𝐮𝐬𝐞 𝐰𝐡𝐞𝐧 𝐰𝐞 𝐬𝐮𝐩𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭 𝐞𝐚𝐜𝐡 𝐨𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫, 𝐰𝐞 𝐒𝐓𝐀𝐍𝐃 𝐭𝐨𝐠𝐞𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫” which we absolutely loved. Our new name and logo for our WMDT community is: 𝗦𝗧𝗔𝗡𝗗 – 𝗦𝘂𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗱𝗲𝘀𝘄𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗻 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗡𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗻 𝗧𝗲𝗿𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘆 𝗔𝗱𝘃𝗼𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 – 𝗡𝗲𝘁𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 – 𝗗𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹𝗼𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗴 Thank you to Practical Safety and All Global Training for donating the fantastic prize pack. As the Apprentice Connect Provider here in the Northern Territory, we are working closely with both the Australian Government and the NT Government to ensure that support is available, whether you are an employer or an apprentice. Our team is here to help. Last week, Apprenticeships Mentor Naomi Pedersen attended the Department of Trade, Business and Asian Relations (DTBAR) luncheon in Katherine with the department's Chief Executive Officer, Ms. Hayley Richards. The roundtable provided an opportunity to raise awareness of the department's purpose and focus, discuss key initiatives, their implementation, and progress, as well as foster two-way engagement on business and industry challenges and opportunities. The Hon. Robyn Cahill OAM MLA, Minister for Trade, Business and Asian Relations, was also in attendance. Naomi also caught up with Sandy Talbot, Workforce Development Officer for DTBAR, and with Miyah McCoy, a school-based trainee who recently commenced her Certificate III in Business, employed with NTG - DTBAR. Miyah is enjoying her work and attended this luncheon as her first corporate event with the department. #apprenticeconnectprovider #apprenticeships #traineeships #theapprenticeshippeople #northernterritory

This week began with another productive and insightful day for our Foundation to Future program participants, filled with valuable opportunities for learning and growth. The day kicked off with a follow-up session with Aboriginal Hostels Limited (AHL), reflecting on last week’s workplace visit. During the session, AHL provided an overview of employment opportunities and shared information about navigating the application process. We were also joined by, Peter Ilic from GTNT Group who shared insights into the advantages of pursuing an Apprenticeship or Traineeship in the NT. This highlights how participants can gain hands-on industry knowledge while completing a qualification, opening doors to meaningful career paths. The day concluded with an engaging worksite visit to Tangentyere Council Aboriginal Corporation at their Elder Street location and Tangentyere Artists Aboriginal Art Centre, where participants explored the diverse roles available in youth services, aged care, construction, employment services, and housing. This visit offered valuable insights into the wide range of opportunities available in these fields, leaving participants inspired and more informed about their potential career paths. A huge thank you to all the organisations that made these sessions possible. Each offered a unique perspective and together they provided participants with a well-rounded understanding of the opportunities available to our participants. #saltbushnt #northernterritory #alicesprings #deadlytogether #f2finititative #foundationtofuture #indigenousemployment Karina Akarana National Indigenous Australians Agency Apprenticeships Northern Territory
