It's posts like this from happy team members that, as a company, we are so incredibly proud of. Seeing females in a historically male-dominated profession kicking goals is also exceptionally rewarding. Well done Brigette Walcott! We love having you on our team! #happystaffhappyclients #girlpower #surveylife #beveridgewilliams #teamwork

Some of our Melbourne offices' Usain Bolt wannabees came together yesterday to participate in the BW Annual Sprint. Spectators were there to provide encouragement, including furry office mascot, Max. Congratulations to Helitha Withanage and Jason Novotny for taking out the win in their categories! 🏃♂️ 🏃♂️ #beveridgewilliams #healthandwellbeing #sprint #teamwork #workplacefun #togetherness #happystaffhappyclients #beinittowinit

By sharing our knowledge and passion, we help open young people’s eyes to our industry's diverse and rewarding opportunities. Last week, we hosted Harvey, a bright Year 10 student exploring a career in town planning and surveying. We took him for a site visit to some of our southeast growth area projects highlighting our clients' incredible work to create thriving communities, showed him the GIS tools we use in our planning work, and explained how planning controls shape our cities and regions. This week, he’ll join our surveying team for hands-on fieldwork on various projects across Melbourne. It’s so important to give back to our industry and help young people discover the exciting opportunities in shaping our communities. Who knows, Harvey might be one of our future planners or surveyors! #Mentoring #TownPlanning #Surveying #WorkExperience #FutureLeaders #CommunityDevelopment #beveridgewilliams

The Small Lot Housing Code has been updated this week, introducing a new Type C lot for properties between 75 and 150 sqm. The creation of a Type C builds on the increase in demand to deliver diverse housing outcomes on smaller lots. In addition to developing the new Type C, updates have been made to Type A and Type B standards to improve urban design and built form outcomes. A planning scheme amendment has been gazetted, formally introducing the updated SLHC to growth area planning schemes. Guidance on the application of the code is anticipated to be released by the VPA soon. In the meantime, please get in contact if you have any questions. I recently had the opportunity to attend the UDIA Victoria Greenfields Breakfast. During the event, Colin Keane presented a compelling forecast highlighting potential land supply shortages by 2026. Some of my key takeaways were ongoing high land prices, which seem misaligned with current house price trends, along with high cancellation rates in the West and Geelong. A key topic of discussion was the pressing need for reforms to accelerate PSP progression and post-approval processes, which are critical for balancing supply and demand. Additionally, Jeroen Weimar announced that Melbourne Water will introduce significant service improvements within the next six months—an encouraging step toward unlocking greenfield potential. It’s clear that collaboration between industry and government will be vital to tackling these challenges and fostering sustainable growth. #UDIA #GreenfieldsPlanning #HousingSupply

Andrea Boully and Alisanne Boag from our planning team recently attended the Property Council Victoria ‘Unfiltered – In Conversation With’ podcast, featuring Colleen Peterson, the new Head of State Planning at the Department of Transport and Planning. Colleen shared inspiring insights on leadership, risk-taking (including her 500 skydiving jumps!), and finding opportunities in uncertainty. Her reflections on balancing professional success with family life, fostering growth in others, and focusing on the big picture rather than localised challenges were particularly impactful. Looking forward to seeing what State Planning under Colleen’s leadership has in store for our industry in the coming months. Thank you to the Property Council and Contour Consultants for a fantastic event! #Leadership #Planning #GrowthMindset #BeveridgeWilliams

Our team attended the UDIA Geelong Summit 2024 this week, engaging with industry leaders, policymakers, and developers to discuss growth and transformation in Geelong. The event tackled critical topics like land supply, Development Contributions Plans (particularly the Creamery Road DCP), housing targets, and business attraction strategies—issues that resonate deeply with our work in planning and development. Key sessions such as Connectivity & Community and Prosperity & Feasibility provided valuable insights into addressing housing shortages and improving regional connectivity. Hearing from experts like Ben Stewart of Core on cost pressures and DCP challenges in the Creamery Road PSP, and engaging in discussions with the City of Greater Geelong, truly reinforced the importance of collaboration across our sector. We were also inspired by the keynote address from Chris Scott, Geelong Football Club’s Head Men’s Coach, who shared his perspectives on high-performance culture and leadership—lessons we’re keen to bring back to our teams. Thank you to UDIA Victoria and the Geelong committee for again hosting this summit; it's one that we look forward to each year. Representing our company at the event were Ryan Cross (Manager Eastern VIC Engineering & Geelong Office Manager), Ash Singhal (Geelong Project Manager), Fiona Wiffrie (Strategic Planning Lead) and Alisanne Boag (Manager Planning), who are committed to contributing to the development and prosperity of Geelong. #UDIA #GeelongSummit2024 #UrbanPlanning #RegionalGrowth #Leadership
