Birdon is currently managing the destruction and recycling of the Griffin Riser Turret Mooring structures. After their recent successful removal and transportation to the Australian Marine Complex (AMC), we have now relocated the five structures, weighing over 2,500 tonnes, to the Birdon Decommissioning Area. Over the next five months, these structures will undergo a thorough process of cleaning, deconstruction, and recycling with over 98% of the materials to be repurposed or recycled. #MakeItHappen #Decommissioning #Sustainability #Henderson #SovereignSolutions Australian Marine Complex Woodside Energy Tutt Bryant Group Limited Heerema Marine Contractors

Birdon’s Motor Lifeboat (MLB) Program was recently featured in WorkBoat’s December issue, highlighting the vessel upgrades and an interview with Program Manager Patrick K.. We were excited to share updates on the upgrades the vessels are going through, and the importance they serve to the U.S. Coast Guard as specialized search and rescue vessels. “They arrive to us as a 47B [Bravo] and leave here as a 47C [Charlie],” said Kinser, during the interview. Kinser goes on to speak about the upgrades the motor lifeboats are going through, including new navigation systems, upgraded propulsion systems, and additional self-righting capabilities. In 2019, Birdon was awarded a 10-year contract to perform a 20-year service life extension for the U.S. Coast Guard’s 47’ Motor Lifeboat fleet and extend the useful life of the fleet through 2047. Since the contract award, Birdon has established full-rate production facilities on both the East and West coasts to facilitate a bi-coastal delivery process. To date, Birdon has delivered nineteen 47’ MLBs to operational units, with another nineteen 47’ MLBs currently undergoing SLEP. In July of this year, the United States Coast Guard (USCG) executed Option Order One to extend the term of the contract through Order Years 6-10 and will allow an additional 72 MLBs to receive significant overhauls and upgrades. #MakeItHappen #MotorLifeboats #MLB #Portland #WorkBoatMagazine #USCoastGuard

The Birdon team are big believers in the power of community and the importance of giving back. This year, we proudly sponsored the Bravery Trek program, supporting Bravery Trust in its mission to provide financial assistance to veterans facing hardship. Our team members walked, ran, rolled, and swam to complete 2,146km, raising $833 in the virtual challenge. We also participated in events at Marvel Stadium in Melbourne and joined the Governor-General for a walk along Sydney Harbour during Veteran’s Health Week.
