On Tuesday we hosted a ribbon cutting at our Bayou La Batre facility to commemorate our arrival in the South Alabama region and the recently announced $37 million expansion. The ceremony brought together the Mobile Chamber, Birdon board members from Australia, Bayou La Batre City Council, U.S. Coast Guard Program Office Members, the Azalea Trail Maids and several local subcontracting partners. Among those who spoke were Bradley Byrne, Mobile Chamber of Commerce President; Henry Barnes, Bayou La Batre Mayor; and our CEO; Jamie Bruce. Jamie said, “We were excited to host such prominent community members and deepen our ties within the South Alabama region.” “We appreciate the welcome we have received and are dedicated to being a good neighbor in this community,” said Alabama Shipyard General Manager Ronald Rábago, while delivering comments to assembled guests and Birdon Alabama’s workforce. During the remarks, Bayou La Batre Mayor Henry Barnes Sr. presented a Certificate of Appreciation Award and a Key to the City to both Jamie Bruce and Birdon Group CFO; Tammy Bugler. “The city is very honored and proud to welcome Birdon into our family of boat builders and we look forward to a brighter future while working with Birdon,” said Mayor Barnes. #MakeItHappen #BayouLaBatre #MobileAlabama #MobileChamber #RibbonCutting #AzaleaTrailMaids
