🎄 The Bowdens team would like to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year 🎄 It’s been another big year for the Bowdens Silver Project and our team, and we are excited for what 2025 will bring. As always, we look forward to sharing our progress and next steps in due course. Our office will be closed during the Christmas period to celebrate the festive season and spend time with our loved ones. We will re-open on the 2nd of January 2025. We’d like to take the opportunity to thank the community, our local business suppliers and community groups for all your help and support throughout the year. Wishing you and your families a happy and safe Christmas and a prosperous New Year! 🎉 #bowdenssilver #christmas2024 #miningnsw #silvermines
About us
Bowdens Silver is the largest, undeveloped silver project in Australia and one of the largest globally. Located near the village of Lue, approximately 30 km east of Mudgee in Central New South Wales, Australia, the Project comprises mineral tenements covering 2,007 square kilometres (496,000 acres) across the mineralised Rylstone Volcanics on the western edge of the Great Dividing Range. Since its discovery in the 1980s the Project has had several owners and been subject to extensive exploration and development studies. Its appeal is in no small part due to its proximity to nearby towns with access to infrastructure, water supply, the power grid and a highly skilled, local workforce. In June 2016, the Project was bought by Silver Mines Limited after a downturn in the silver price saw the previous owners cease operations. A new and invigorated recommencement of activities is now under way and plans are in place for a more condensed and enhanced development. Our viable farming operations will continue alongside the development of the mine and together these integrated activities will bring many benefits to the district by way of direct employment, the supply of support industries, economic investment into the local communities and support for local development, educational and sponsorship initiatives.

This month, Bowdens collaborated with The Kandos Rylstone Men’s Shed (KRMS) on an exciting project for the Lue community. With increased grant funding, KRMS brought the idea of a community library to life, creating a space for students and locals to enjoy. We can’t thank KRMS enough for their incredible effort, which has resulted in a fantastic new addition for everyone in the area. Over the next week, the talented students from Lue Public School will be adding some colour to the library, making it even more special. #kandosrylstonemensshed #luepublicschool #communitylibrary

SILVER IDENTIFIED AS A “PRIORITY METAL” IN THE NSW GOVERNMENT CRITICAL MINERALS AND HIGH-TECH METALS STRATEGY 2024–2035 It is encouraging to see the NSW Government release its new Critical Minerals and High-Tech Metals Strategy last month. The Strategy outlines the importance of exploration, development, and investment and importantly, has identified silver as one of five priority metals for the state. This underlines the importance of the Bowdens Silver Project and its resource now and into the future. NURSERY UPDATE - Swainsona Recta (Purple Pea) Recently, our Environment team has been working on something very special in our nursery. After careful seed collection, planting, and nurturing, they have successfully grown more than 10 Small-Purple Pea plants (Swainsona recta) with four currently flowering in our hardening off area. Swainsona recta is a small, perennial herb that grows up to 30 cm tall. It has very narrow leaflets and produces sprays of flowers that bloom on erect stems between late September and early December. Its conservation status is classified as "Endangered" in New South Wales under the Biodiversity Conservation Act 2016 (BC Act) and at a Commonwealth level under the Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999 (EPBC Act). Bowdens Silver was granted a threatened species license under the BC Act allowing collection of seeds from Swainsona recta located on Bowdens Silver land. Collection was completed in accordance with the license conditions generally following the NSW Office of Environment & Heritage (2011) Conservation Management Notes Seed Collecting and the Flora Bank (2021) Flora Bank Guidelines Module 6 - Seed Collection. Seeds were collected using a ‘seed trap’ method where organza bags are placed over the immature seed head allowing all seed once mature to drop into the bag. This method enabled an accurate count of the seeds, ensuring that any excess could be retained in their original locations. Trials of growing methods have been ongoing with varying degrees of success. This year’s plants, which were germinated in a seedling tray and transplanted into larger pots, have grown vigorously and are currently flowering! It is hoped that they will provide seed for future propagation, allowing for easy seed collection and reducing the need to harvest from the wild population. Bowdens is committed to continuing these efforts to bolster the local population of this remarkable plant. Our long-term plans include reintroduction of these plants back into their natural habitat within our biodiversity offset areas. These areas will be actively managed and maintained ensuring their preservation for environmental purposes in perpetuity.
