This month, Bowdens collaborated with The Kandos Rylstone Men’s Shed (KRMS) on an exciting project for the Lue community. With increased grant funding, KRMS brought the idea of a community library to life, creating a space for students and locals to enjoy. We can’t thank KRMS enough for their incredible effort, which has resulted in a fantastic new addition for everyone in the area. Over the next week, the talented students from Lue Public School will be adding some colour to the library, making it even more special. #kandosrylstonemensshed #luepublicschool #communitylibrary

All about starting something up from where you are, what resources you're having on hand and doing what you can.
Small Grants Set up with an intention to improve lives through education, the Weimbal Early Childhood Centre in Nyamikum village in East Sepik Province, PNG was built by the local community without any external support. Community members collected building resources from the natural environment and community cash contributions to build a basic classroom with no desks or chairs. After seeing children sitting on the dirt floor in all forms of weather, including during the wet season, Santos contractor, Collin, applied for a small grant through the Santos Foundation to support the preparatory class at the learning centre. His successful application for funding secured the centre PGK5,000, (~$AUD2000) which covered the cost of 37 desks and chairs to be delivered to the learning centre, providing an improved learning environment for the children who can now more safely and comfortably sit to take part in their lessons at school. Bittersweet to read about parents having to cut back to fund school trips. While we know just how transformative trip-based learning can be—making learning fun, bringing topics to life, fostering teamwork and building confidence—we deeply empathise with families facing these tough choices. At Ufton Court, we believe every child deserves the freedom to flourish outside the classroom, no matter their circumstances. That’s why, through our charity, we subsidise history and outdoor learning trips to Ufton Court by 50% for schools in areas of deprivation. We’re here to ensure that no child misses out on the incredible benefits of experiential learning: sparking curiosity, boosting self-esteem, and creating memories that last a lifetime. As well as improving learning in the classroom, benefitting behaviour, attendance and confidence. We hope to make school trips more accessible and impactful for all. Our featured on-demand course of the week is FREE! It's "Finding New Sources of Funding in Challenging Times: An Introduction." An investigation of any grants database using the search terms “historic preservation” or “cultural resources” will yield minimal results. During times of economic hardship, and the resulting narrowing of priorities for funders, results may be downright nonexistent. Learn how to evaluate a cultural resource project for its value in serving broader community needs. Review traditional funding types vs. alternative sources that can be redirected to meet project goals. Consider new partnerships that can expand the universe of support. #historicpreservation #continuingeducation #learn #learning #course

On this Giving Tuesday, we're thrilled to share that the John Henry Eldred Jr. Foundation has awarded 77 grants to rural libraries across the U.S.!📚✨ This year, we’re especially honored to support 10 libraries in North Carolina and Georgia affected by Hurricanes Helene and Milton. These libraries were identified through a partnership with the Association for Rural & Small Libraries. With this funding, they can rebuild collections, expand programming, and continue serving as vital community hubs for recovery and connection. Since 2012, we've committed over $1 million to rural libraries, enhancing access to children's and young adult collections. Our mission is to strengthen families and communities, and rural libraries play a crucial role in that vision. I am deeply grateful for the opportunity to be a part of this incredible journey. It has reaffirmed my belief in the power of education to break down barriers and unlock doors of opportunity. But more than that, it has reminded me of the importance of kindness, empathy, and the simple act of reaching out a helping hand to those in need. So here's to all the individuals and organizations working tirelessly to make a difference in the lives of others. Your efforts are truly changing the world, one child at a time.

Fort Worth Education Partnership's latest report highlights the city’s urgent challenges in schools. Only 35% of Fort Worth students are meeting grade-level standards, and more than half are unable to read at grade level. This isn’t just a school issue; it’s a citywide crisis with serious implications for the future workforce and community. FWEP is dedicated to addressing these challenges, but it’s clear that collective action is needed to make a real difference. At City Fund, we are proud to support FWEP and other organizations that are making meaningful changes in their cities. #Education #FortWorth #CommunityImpact 📰: https://bit.ly/3SNlBwV
