Proudly owned by three Australian families, for six generations.

About us

Bulla Dairy Foods is one of Australia’s oldest family owned dairy companies. At Bulla, the same three families have been making dairy products in country Australia for six generations and export them all over the world. We make dairy products with care, craftsmanship and passion, like we've been doing for over 100 years. We make Bulla Cream in batches, the way we did in 1910. All Bulla Ice Cream is still made with fresh milk delivered daily. We continue to hand cut our Cottage Cheese, and our Frozen Yoghurt is made with Bulla probiotic yoghurt and real fruit. Bulla is more than just a company - everyone who works here is part of the family.

  • Late last year, Kylie Armstrong our Bulla Chief Operations Officer and Chris Martin, Head of Category Channel Marketing and Insights had the opportunity of travelling to Italy for the International Ice Cream Consortium (IICC) conference, thanks to Sammontana. The trip was made even more special with the exciting announcement that Bulla received the Best Technical Solution Award! This award acknowledges our recent implementation of an AI-powered data collection and analysis system, which has enabled us to: - Identify trends and flag potential issues in real time. - Enhance accuracy and minimise waste across the production line. - Take immediate corrective actions based on predictive modelling. This innovative solution is part of a broader strategy to empower our production teams with tools, skills, and confidence to achieve operational excellence. A massive congratulations to everyone involved in this project – a true testament to our team’s dedication to innovation and continuous improvement for the year ahead. #IICC2024 #BullaDairyFoods

  • Ever wondered how Bulla attracts the next generation of talent? Last year, our Talent Acquisition team at Bulla organised a series of educational outreach initiatives to showcasing the incredible career opportunities within our beloved dairy industry. Here's how we did it: • High School Work Experience Program: We launched a trial program in the Colac region, offering students hands on experience in the world of work. • Year 12 Presentations: We delivered engaging career pathway sessions at Trinity School and Colac Secondary College. •Agriculture Class Visit: Colac Secondary College's Agriculture class visited our Colac Innovation Centre for a firsthand look at our operations. • Bulla Representation at Trinity College: Our Ice Cream Van initiative brought fun and Bulla flavour to students at Trinity College. • Entrepreneur Class Tour: For the second year, we welcomed St. Joseph's College's Entrepreneur Class for an interactive session and site tour at our Innovation Centre. These initiatives reflect our commitment to supporting local students, fostering industry awareness, and inspiring the next generation of Bulla talent. • At Bulla, we are incredibly proud to be recognised within the industry for the care and dedication that goes into crafting quality dairy products that families enjoy both at home and abroad. We were recently honoured at the Melbourne Royal Australian Food Awards last year, walking away with three wins, including the prestigious Champion Australia Large Dairy Producer award! But that’s not all – we also celebrated a win at the Australian Grand Dairy Awards, where Murray St Lemon Meringue Tart Sticks were crowned Best Novelty Ice-Cream! These achievements reflect the passion and effort of our amazing team. #BullaDairyFoods

This week, we marked a special milestone at our new Greenfield manufacturing plant, now known as Bulla's Hearn St site. Just six months ago we were putting the final touches on the designs and today we see the structural steel bringing shape to our vision!    Our Hearn St site marks the future of Bulla's growth, and so we were thrilled to come together to mark this occasion and reflect on this important moment for our business, our team and our trusted partners.    We’re proud to acknowledge the Bulla Greenfield project team as well as our partners for the impressive progress achieved to date. This is a large and complex project that could not have been possible without BADGE Constructions, 4Site Design Group and Colac’s own Kelly Civil and Gardner Group.   We look forward to sharing further updates on this exciting project which will be stocking supermarket shelves with some new (and very exciting) products in time for Christmas 2025! #Colac #Construction #BullaDairyFoods #BullaGreenfield #BullaHearnSt

  • Several of our team recently had the chance to be part of the Victorian Government’s presence at the China International Import Expo (CIIE). Alongside 50 other amazing Australian companies, we got to represent Bulla on the global stage, connect with key stakeholders and explore exciting new partnership opportunities. One of the trip’s key moments? Signing an MOU with a fast-growing buffet-style restaurant chain in China. With 250 restaurants across major cities in North and East China, this partnership is a great step toward growing our presence in such a dynamic market. A huge shout out to several of our team Allan Hood (CEO), Nick Hickford (Chief Commercial Officer), and Sam Zhang (International Business Manager)—who played a key role in these important discussions and helped bring this partnership to life. While Bulla is supported by dedicated international teams in Australia, Singapore, and Hong Kong, we’re especially grateful for the guidance and connections provided by the Victorian Government and Austrade. Their global network has been invaluable in opening doors and supporting “Made in Australia” products in international markets. We’re looking forward to what’s next and can’t wait to keep building these connections. Stay tuned for more updates as we continue to share the best of Australian dairy with the world. #CIIE2024 #BullaDairyFoods

  • The Bulla team have been busy at trade shows and customer conferences over the last few months... These events are a wonderful opportunity to connect with our customers and their ecosystems, industry leaders, local businesses, new and potential customers and to showcase our latest Bulla products to gain valuable insights from our peers, create new opportunities for our business and new homes for our award-winning products. Most recently, we have had the pleasure of participating and presenting Bulla’s products at the Garian Foods (NAFDA Tradeshow), Whitsunday Foodservice Tradeshow and our customer Mad Mex 2024 Conference. Our teams were excited to present our innovative dairy products and engage with our customers and visitors who are just as passionate about quality dairy as much as we are. A huge thank you to everyone who stopped by our booths! Your feedback, taste tests and enthusiasm are incredibly valuable to us. #FoodService #BullaDairyFoods #SustainablyStrongerTogether

  • At Bulla, we believe that fostering a culture of health and wellbeing is integral to our success and, most importantly, our team's sense of health and happiness. And so we were excited to get stepping with our recent Converge Move stepping challenge. Walking is more than just a daily activity, it’s the cornerstone of a healthy lifestyle, enhancing everything from physical fitness to mental clarity (Mayo Clinic). By integrating wellness initiatives like the stepping challenge into our company culture across our Bulla sites, we not only support individual health but we strengthen team cohesion and morale. Shout out to all 148 of our team who stepped up to the challenge, demonstrating a collective commitment to wellbeing. The competition has been exciting, with 6 teams in the ring and friendly rivalries sparking motivation (and some healthy competition) with team Derrimut Dashers at the top of the leaderboard (go team!). #SustainabilityStrongerTogether #BullaDairyFoods #Peopleandculture

  • Last month, we had the incredible opportunity to support the Special Olympics Australia at their Victoria State Games. We were thrilled to have donated over 400 of our delicious Creamy Classics Mini Choc Tops across three competing venues for the athletes, volunteers and spectators to enjoy. It’s always heartwarming to see the spirit of sport, joy, and inclusion in action! Special Olympics Victoria is a vital part of a global movement that empowers individuals with intellectual disabilities and autism through sports. We’re proud to stand alongside such an inspiring community celebrating achievements and fostering connections, having first worked with the incredible team as part of our International Day of People with Disability events and learning last year. A big congratulations to all the athletes who showcased their talents and determination, thank you for letting us be a small part of your celebrations! #SpecialOlympics #Inclusion #CommunitySupport #BullaDairyFoods

  • At Bulla, partnerships are paramount to the way we do business. We are proud of our longstanding relationship with ANZ, built on respect, trust, and support. Founded in 1910, Bulla Dairy Foods began its journey when Thomas Sloan pioneered a new method of thickening cream. Now in its sixth generation of family ownership, Bulla is still owned by the same three founding families, with operations in Victoria’s verdant dairy country around Colac and Melbourne. For several decades, ANZ has supported Bulla in expanding into new markets, innovating with new products, and established new manufacturing facilities. As ANZ relationship manager Tony Fato outlines in this article, trust and ongoing investment in relationships are essential for fostering the growth of a company like Bulla.
