Recently Hassan Dawood our ICT and Facility Services Director attended the Australasian College of Health Service Management (ACHSM) Asia-Pacific Health Leadership Congress Celsus @ the Royal Adelaide Hospital sponsor the SA branch. The event was held at the Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre. The conference was a great success with amazing speakers and covered a wide range of health focus topics. Topics included the many challenges currently facing the health industry and clinicians, workforce and sustainability in health care, digital health, innovation and AI and the huge potential if they are correctly applied to improve patient care, patient flow and increase efficiencies in the workplace. The 3 days event was well attended, allowing me to network with talented and committed health care and other professionals who work in the health industry to learn from experts on the challenges, opportunities, and experiences that this amazing industry can expect in the future. The event was very well organised and managed and Hassan certainly gained a lot of value and knowledge about wide range of issues and topics covered by the event. #lifelonglearning #achsmsa #achsm Di Mantell Michelle Evans Shane Flowers Damien Breen Marni Hood Marie Clothier Sue Phillips

We are so pleased to hear the Sustainability in Action insights from our CEO Di Mantell who attended the #UNitingBusinessLive conference in Sydney. Last week, I attended the UNiting Business Live UN Global Compact Network Australia. On Day two the speakers represented a range of views but two were particularly powerful. The Honourable Tanya Plibersek spoke about what the government was doing and how much they had increased protected marine parks - I had no idea. 52% of our oceans are now protected. Australia has the most significant penetration of solar panels worldwide, and now we must find a solution to dispose of these through a valid circular economy process. There was also a panel discussing AI, SI and sustainability silver bullets. According to Oxford University, AI is now the number one risk worldwide ahead of climate change. It was also proposed that AI should be seen as a species and managed accordingly. Dr Larry Marshall and Dr Catriona Wallace pushed for not letting AI run an open loop; disclosure is the silver bullet and transparent institutions are the way forward. There needs to be a civil movement to push back and develop actual governance of AI—the most passionate and informative of discussions. #esg #metaverse #unglobalcompact #partnerships Celsus @ the Royal Adelaide Hospital Damien Breen Ian Overton Trent Mikkonen

The Celsus @ the Royal Adelaide Hospital team recently had the privilege of joining Peter Livanes and the Downer Health & Executive Leadership team packing Backpacks 4 SA Kids at the Adelaide Oval. Backpacks 4 SA Kids is on a mission to make a tangible difference in the lives of children facing adversity and believe that every child deserves a brighter future. The backpack program provides age appropriate emergency clothing, toiletries and other necessary supplies (such as nappies, bottles, cuddle toys etc), for children aged from 0-16 who are taken into care as a result of neglect or abuse, experiencing family or domestic violence, or experiencing homelessness. The Celsus team assembled various toiletry and school supply bags to be utilised in the emergency kits. Every cuddle toy placed in a back pack is hugged by the worker with a note attached to it saying that this toy has a hug for you! 🤗 Backpack 4 SA Kids also provide emergency Home Start Packs and emergency Anchor Packs; for more details go to https://lnkd.in/guFPUD2p Michelle Evans Hassan Dawood Shane Flowers Damien Breen Marni Hood Sue Phillips Marie Clothier Jayne Harris Mike Frajer Mhairi Donohoe #esg #sustainability #feelgoodinitiative

The Royal Adelaide Hospital has become the first public hospital in South Australia to provide rapid electric vehicle (EV) charging facilities for patients, visitors and staff. A total of six charging bays and units have been officially commissioned and are located directly adjacent the Emergency Department entrance. One charging unit is located within an accessible parking bay. Celsus, has partnered with global renewable energy giant, ENGIE AU, to offer charging facilities to meet the rapidly growing demand in EVs. Celsus CEO, Di Mantell, said EV charging facilities bolstered the RAH’s green credentials in line with a broader move to de-carbonise South Australia’s electricity grid. The facility was opened by the Hon Chris Picton. “Anyone travelling to the RAH will be able to charge their EVs while visiting patients or accessing the emergency department facilities. We also anticipate hospital staff will make use of the new facilities,” Ms Mantell said. “Celsus has ensured sustainability has been a key measure of success from building and design through to day-to-day management of the RAH. It was the first large-scale hospital complex in Australia to achieve a 4 Star Green Star – Healthcare As Built rating from the GBCA and in 2021 we secured the world’s largest Green and Social Loan globally in the healthcare sector following the completion of a major refinancing deal with financiers.” Central Adelaide Local Health Network Chief Executive Officer, Emma McCahon said the introduction of the EV charging stations sets a new standard for healthcare facilities. “These new charging stations provide patients, visitors and staff with convenient, dependable and efficient charging solutions, encouraging the adoption of electric vehicles and supporting our ongoing commitment to reduce our environmental impact,” Ms McCahon said. ENGIE ANZ Director of Green Mobility, Greg Schumann, said the company had installed around 200 EV charge points across Australia, both fleet and public, since the start of 2023, and was pleased to work with Celsus and the RAH to support their sustainability initiatives. “It’s important to place EV charging infrastructure in convenient locations where people will be parked for up to two hours and we’re pleased to be able to help take some of the stress out of a hospital visit by allowing EV drivers to charge cars while receiving treatment or visiting loved ones,” Mr Schumann said. The partnership with ENGIE is supported by infrastructure provider JET Charge and charging network provider Chargefox. Users can download the Chargefox app to find, use and pay for charging at the tap of a button. It was a pleasure to attend the ANZ Finance Dinner of 2024. Led by Rachel Leach. The Senior Economist Catherine Birch and Head of Geopolitical Risk Cameron Mitchell provided an informative insight into the current state of the world's economic and geopolitical factors. It is incredible when you bundle all of the geopolitical issues together that have arisen in the last few months; it is mind-blowing and will make an amazing novel at some point! This was followed by Simon Kuestenmacher, who provided an insightful and humourous review of the demographic trends and insights in Australia, especially in South Australia. Thanks @ANZ #partnerships #esg
