CIG have finished pouring the abutment of North East Link's marque bridge. CIG proposed a non-conforming tender for this project. We identified a cost saving if the design was changed from precast architectural pattern to a fully insitu construction methodology. We worked through our proposed process with SPARK to demonstrate that we could deliver a quality finish when combining the pattern with the huge 11.7m high continuous pours required. We always strive for innovative approaches to save projects money, and we really enjoyed working with our client to make this one a reality. Project highlights; - 720m2 of architectural pattern - 1004m3 of coloured concrete and 1315m3 of grey concrete - 11.7 max height

Its primary aim is to fill a void in the market for high quality, on site construction services on projects including road and rail bridges, water and sewerage treatment plants, electrical substations and general in-situ concrete construction. Although we are a relatively newly formed company, CIG’s founding partners bring with them a breadth of experience across all aspects of the industry from engineering input at time of tender to expert supervision at site level. We are excited to share that the Grimshaw street bridge OCCO was completed 4 shifts ahead of the program. We also saw the opportunity to complete additional scope within this OCCO and mitigated the need for two weekend November occupations! Congratulations to our and the M80 team for making this a successful project.
🧱 All in all you’re just a, ‘nother beam in the wall. We’ve been working on upgrades to the Grimshaw Street bridge in Greensborough. As part of the works, crews worked around-the-clock to install 26 concrete beams to support a new wider road bridge over the Hurstbridge rail line. The beams were lifted into place using a 450t crane, with each beam weighing up to 26 tonnes! Crews also installed 72 precast panels to form part of the extended rail tunnel. But we’re not there yet - we’ll be need to do further works to complete the bridge and extend the rail tunnel in 2025 and 2026. Once complete the bridge will form part of the Grimshaw Street interchange that will link to the M80 Ring Road and North East Link, with dedicated lanes for local trips and express lanes to the North East Link tunnels.
