Did you know? In 2019, Clough, as part of a joint venture, completed the Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) for the POM Power Station development in Papua New Guinea. This nation-building infrastructure represents the first ever utility-scale gas engine project in the country. The project greatly enhanced the reliability of the local electricity grid, reducing diesel importation by utilising local natural resources and drastically reducing PNG’s carbon footprint. The power station achieved this through our design and construction of six high-efficiency reciprocating gas engines and generators, supplied by the PNG LNG project and the 66kv power line and substation network, with a production capacity of 58MW for baseload power to the Port Moresby power grid. ⚡ An engineering marvel in the making! Webuild's construction of the world’s tallest clay core rockfill dam is under way on the Vakhsh River in Rogun, Tajikistan. The Rogun Hydropower Project will unlock Rogun’s massive hydroelectric potential, transforming Tajikistan into a regional energy powerhouse - it will double energy production in the country and strongly contribute to the reduction of power shortages suffered during the winter months. 🚇 Inaugurating the Riyadh Metro Network! This week, His Majesty King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud officially inaugurated the Riyadh Metro Network in Saudi Arabia. The longest line in the project was delivered by the Webuild Group. The network's six fully-automated lines cover an impressive combined length of 176 kilometres. This strategic piece of infrastructure will contribute to the capital’s growing urban mobility needs, enhancing the quality of life of residents and visitors alike, in line with the objectives of the nation's Vision 2030. We were incredibly fortunate to welcome Bradlee Commins, founder of Aboriginal-owned BC Consulting, to our offices in Perth (Boorloo), Brisbane (Mianjin), and Sydney (Gadigal). Bradlee led Cultural Confidence Workshops with our teams, offering an inspiring and enriching journey into the histories and cultures of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples. These workshops equipped us with meaningful tools to engage respectfully with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, businesses, and stakeholders, helping us contribute to positive reconciliation outcomes in everything we do. 🏗 Did You Know? In 2018, Clough, as part of a joint venture, completed the engineering, procurement and construction management (EPCM) for all downstream facilities on Chevron’s Gorgon Project, one of the world’s largest natural gas projects and the largest single resource project in Australia’s history. The Gorgon project involved constructing a three-train, nominal 15.6MTPA liquefied natural gas (LNG) facility on Barrow Island and a domestic gas plant capable of providing Western Australia with 300 terajoules of gas per day – enough electricity for 2.5 million homes. The joint venture also completed the Pre-FEED and Front-End Engineering Design (FEED) for this project. ♻ Diverting waste to keep workers safe! Did you know, almost 56 million tyres are discarded every year? And only 10% are recycled! We’re proud to highlight an initiative from the North East Link, where the team continues to lead the way in supporting a sustainable and thriving circular economy, by converting old tyres into safety barriers. This Australian-first initiative is supporting local jobs, saving tonnes of waste from landfill, and protecting workers on the major infrastructure project which is currently under way in Melbourne. Developed in collaboration with Saferoads, for every 1km of the safety barrier produced, 12 tonnes of recycled tyres are used – that’s the equivalent of 2000 tyres! To-date the project has installed more than 220 barriers across the project. Webuild, as part of the Spark Joint Venture, is delivering the North East Link tunnels for the Victorian government. The project will enable a more sustainable future by taking 15,000 trucks off local roads every day and reducing travel times by up to 35 minutes for commuters. Take a stand against gender-based violence. Today we recognise International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, the start of the 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence campaign, and White Ribbon Month which runs from 18 November until 13 December.   These important initiatives aim to raise awareness of the violence women are subjected to, to help drive an essential change in the culture, behaviour and attitudes that lead to violence against women and children.   In recognition, our teams wore white to show our commitment to breaking the cycle of violence, promoting gender equality, and fostering positive, healthy, and respectful relationships. Our team in Perth also proudly attended the Centre for Women's Safety and Wellbeing's 34th March Against Domestic and Family Violence, marking the beginning of the WA Government's 16 Days in WA campaign.   It's everyone's responsibility to stand up against violence.   In partnership with Orana House, we developed a Family and Domestic Violence Support program that offers education and training, emergency support, DFV leave, flexible work arrangements, and holistic assistance.
