CME Chief Executive Officer Rebecca Tomkinson is taking part in a panel discussion about solutions to Australia's gas shortages at the 2025 Australian Domestic Gas Outlook Conference. We know fast-dispatching gas has a vital role to play backing up renewable generation as the world pursues net zero, and it is also a significant industrial feedstock. A CME report last year found gas-fired capacity in the South West Interconnected System must double to allow renewable generation to reach 75 per cent by 2030 - rising to 90 per cent by 2040. Brendan’s commitment to fostering an inclusive workplace stems from his early observations in investment banking, where he recognised the underrepresentation of women in leadership roles. This inspired him to advocate for equal opportunities, ensuring that women returning from maternity leave were supported rather than sidelined. At Sandfire, he established a 40/40/20 gender diversity target for his executive team, achieving this milestone within six months. At 38, Julie became the first female operations manager of an LNG plant in Australia, overseeing the Karratha Gas Plant—one of the world’s largest LNG facilities, effectively managing about 1 per cent of Australia’s GDP. Since then, Julie has held numerous leadership roles, including Senior Vice President of the Pluto Business Unit and Executive Vice President of Corporate Services, where she led critical initiatives in corporate governance and employee advocacy. In 2024, Julie returned to her technical roots, becoming EVP Technical and Energy Development, leading global teams and developing projects critical for supporting Woodside’s long-term future. Despite her age, Irene has taken on significant responsibilities early in her career, dismantling stereotypes through her competence and performance. Irene’s accomplishments include leading a facility shutdown and start-up, and mobilising to Singapore to lead shipyard completions. She also led and coordinated all the teams involved in the offshore execution of Woodside’s first subsea-to-subsea pigging, which required extensive multi-disciplinary technical and vendor coordination, involving more than 400 offshore lifts, a nitrogen subsea injection and multiple supply vessel runs. 🎊 CONGRATULATIONS Krystal Findlay FROM Roy Hill 🎊 Krystal is the #WIRA2025 Outstanding Operator/Technician/Trade Award winner! Growing up in Port Hedland, Krystal pursued a hands-on career in mining that began at Boom Logistics before she took the initiative to pay for her own rigging and crane tickets, paving the way for her first role as a processing operator. Now a Superintendent Port Production at Roy Hill, she has led initiatives to improve efficiency and safety, helping achieve a record 64Mt shipped in FY24. Krystal developed a digital maintenance tracking system that decreased downtime, cutting de-ballasting delays from 34 hours to just six, enabling 378,000 additional tonnes to be shipped in six months.
