🎉 Major milestone for Australia’s clean energy future! The Australian Government has announced 19 successful renewable energy generation projects under the #CapacityInvestmentScheme (CIS). These projects deliver 6.4 GW of renewable generation capacity—exceeding the tendered 6 GW target and enough to power 3 million households. 📊 Breakdown: 📍NSW: 3.7 GW (plus 900 MWh storage) 📍Vic: 1.6 GW (plus 1,500 MWh storage) 📍SA: 574 MW 📍Qld: 550 MW (plus 1,200 MWh storage). The 19 projects comprise: 🌞 5 solar projects 🌬️ 6 wind projects 🔋 8 hybrids (solar + battery or wind + battery). Today in Canberra, we launched the 'Billions in the bush: Renewable energy for regional prosperity' report with Farmers for Climate Action, which estimates that large-scale renewable energy projects will deliver $1 billion to farmers and $200 million to regional communities by 2030. • Farmers to receive $0.9 to $1.1 billion in landholder payments for hosting clean energy by 2030 • A further $200 million will go to regional communities through Community Benefits Funds, neighbourhood benefit sharing schemes and local household electricity bill contributions • Clean energy makes farmland more productive by creating a double income from the land Speaking at Parliament House, our Chief Executive, Kane Thornton, said, in addition to offering farmers a guaranteed income that isn’t connected to fluctuating commodity prices or the impacts of extreme weather, renewables are breathing new life into communities.  “The clean energy transition is not only keeping the lights on as coal plants reach the end of their technical life; they’re creating jobs and alternative income streams right across communities." More than 40 per cent of Australia’s electricity now comes from renewable sources, including hydro, solar and wind, the majority of which are located in regional and rural areas. We have engaged a big battery to increase the capacity of its network in the Riverina and deliver extra renewable energy to households and businesses without building new transmission infrastructure. 🔋The Riverina and Darlington Point Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) allow up to 120MW of additional capacity on a constrained section of the Transgrid network between Darlington Point and Wagga Wagga. 𝗣𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗻𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽𝘀 𝗯𝗲𝘁𝘄𝗲𝗲𝗻 𝗴𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗴𝘆 𝗶𝗻𝗱𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘆 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗰𝗿𝘂𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗮𝘀 𝘄𝗲 𝗺𝗼𝗱𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗶𝘀𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗴𝗿𝗶𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝘀𝘂𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗻𝘀𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗰𝗼𝗮𝗹 𝘁𝗼 𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗲𝘄𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲𝘀.  In exciting news, a key project in Victoria's renewable energy transition, the Koorangie Energy Storage System (KESS), has reached a significant milestone with the delivery of Tesla Megapacks at its facility west of Kerang.  KESS will allow Victorians to use solar and wind energy even when the sun isn’t shining, or the wind isn’t blowing. ☀️ 🌬️ On completion in 2025, KESS will house 100 Tesla Megapacks. A single charge of the facility will power all the homes in the Gannawarra Shire Council area for more than 14 days, or all the homes in Kerang for more than 30 days. ⚡   Additionally, KESS will provide services to strengthen the power system and increase generation capacity in the Murray River region, which will be funded as part of the Victorian Government’s $480 million Renewable Energy Zone Fund. 𝗕𝗥𝗘𝗔𝗞𝗜𝗡𝗚 🗞️ $𝟲𝟲𝟬 𝗺𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗛𝟮 𝗚𝗹𝗼𝗯𝗮𝗹 𝗱𝗲𝗮𝗹 𝗯𝗲𝘁𝘄𝗲𝗲𝗻 𝗔𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗹𝗶𝗮𝗻 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗚𝗲𝗿𝗺𝗮𝗻 𝗚𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀 Australia and Germany have signed an historic deal to deepen cooperation on new green hydrogen supply chains through a $660 million (€400 million) H2 Global funding window to guarantee European buyers for Australia’s renewable hydrogen producers.
