EURAXESS Australia and New Zealand is an initiative of the European Commission established with the aim to provide free access to information about research in Europe, opportunities for research funding, international collaboration and trans-national mobility. It links researchers in Australia and New Zealand to Europe. Nevertheless, the network is open to all nationalities and research fields. If you are interested in any of the following, stay in touch with us: - To receive information about European funding opportunities under H2020/FP9 with special emphasis on European Research Council (ERC) and Marie Skłodowska Curie Actions (MSCA) and entrepreneurial collaboration - To establish interfaces with existing European Member States research networks - To remain updated about funding opportunities at European and national level through weekly flash notes, quarterly newsletters and daily social media posts. - To become part of EU Research and Innovation community and network with like minded people.

Breaking the wall of asthma, in Berlin!! What an honour to have represented New Zealand at the Falling Walls Global Finale. Though I am a bit jet lagged… It is difficult for me to summarise the sheer impact of this event, other than to say it was an absolute powerhouse of science and innovation addressing humanity’s most pressing challenges - not the worst way to spend the week!! I am nothing but inspired. As such, I was honoured to present on our wearable smart device (VentiMate) to detect and alleviate asthma attacks through nerve stimulation. I could not have done this without Yusuf Cakmak and Deanna Barwick - thank you both for driving this forward alongside me. Please check out ventimate.health for more on our work. From a broader perspective, I want to highlight the importance of neuromodulation. By simply harnessing the interconnectivity of our nervous systems, we may be able to shift the way in which we treat chronic conditions (including asthma), and I am delighted to be involved with such an exciting field of research. As you can see in our group photo, I made some really close friends from all corners of the world. I am so glad to have connected with everyone, and I thank you all for being so wonderful - despite not understanding my kiwi accent!
