  • Our Kimberley Spirit Football Program continues to offer meaningful athletic and developmental pathways for young Kimberley men and women. In large part due to our long standing and meaningful partnership with Claremont Football Club. Thank you for hosting us in our most recent trip south!

Last month, we had the privilege of hosting nine talented young athletes - six boys and three girls from our Kimberley region with Garnduwa Amboorny Wirnan for the Kimberley Future Pathway Trip. With DDR Australia and RC Construction as the Kimberley Football Pathway Program Partners for 2024 and 2025, their week was filled with lifeskill development and football opportunities for these young potential stars. The travelling squad took part in a range of activities: ⚡️ Gym and educational sessions at Fremantle Dockers Football Club ⚡️ Career pathway discussions at Bunnings Armadale ⚡️ Education chats and sessions at Claremont Football Club with Shane Yardley (Wellbeing and Mental Health), Jordan Smith (Pathway and Player Expectations), Ben Rushforth from Lifecare Australia Claremont (Physical and Medical Education) and Jacob Shaw (Diet and Nutrition) ⚡️ The girls took their place in the team for the U/16 Metro Development Carnival, gaining insight into the schedule and running of a game day in Perth. The visit to DDR Australia's office, S2M Evolution Alliance, and the Stephenson Ave Bridge extension site offered a valuable look at career and apprenticeship opportunities, creating potential pathways for ease of relocation, and career development if the players were to progress through our football pathway program in the coming years. Thank you to all involved for an impactful week and for supporting the future development of our regional players 🙌 🎥 Videography and editing by Adam Crane (Salt Diaries)

  • Deadly Diva Day Broome 🌸 Last week 60 young women and a number of service providers joined us at our annual Deadly Diva Day in Broome. The Deadly Diva Day is a core initiative of our Active Leaders Program. We aim to build a safe, non-judgmental and engaging environment where workshops focus on building skills, confidence, and health awareness, as well as being active and moving our bodies. Here’s a look at the day’s sessions: 🌟 North Regional TAFE Jobs and Skills team, focused on communication, teamwork, and leadership through interactive and challenging problem solving activities. 🌟Kimberley Aboriginal Medical Services - KAMS (KAMS) and headspace Broome, teamed up and explored the topic of “What makes us strong?”. This question was posed to the participants and answers were creatively expressed into a large art piece throughout the day. 🌟 Country Football WA introduced the girls to AFL 9’s. We got our heart rates up despite the heat! 🌟KAMS Sexual Health team facilitated an open discussion aimed at normalising conversations around sexual health, with guidance on where to find support and why it’s okay to ask for help. 🌟KAMS also provided crucial education on Rheumatic Heart Disease, raising awareness of this health issue in our communities. Thank you to our partners, facilitators, and attendees. We’re proud to connect with like-minded service provides committed to providing support and education to young women in our communities. #strongactivehealthy #DeadlyDivaDay #ActiveLeadersProgram #EmpoweringYoungWomen #Garnduwa #BuildingStrongerCommunities #YouthLeadership #thinkmentalhealthwa #creatingahealthierWA Healthway headspace National Indigenous Australians Agency

  • We have some exciting news! Our term 4 sport in select locations throughout the Kimberley is Hockey! We are partnering with the Hockey Australia Foundation to achieve shared objectives of improving health and wellbeing of young people by encouraging them to be physically active.
