Great news for Norseman and the Mid West! We're excited to announce that the Mid West Solar Program has reached its final milestone. A centralised solar farm and Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) have launched in Norseman, WA. This makes Norseman the sixth regional WA town to benefit from this program. Norseman's new 758kW solar system and 336kWh BESS are now operational, following the solar farms installed in Cue, Sandstone, Yalgoo, Meekatharra, and Wiluna. With these towns using more renewable energy, it will cut carbon emissions and reduce reliance on diesel. 🌱 Our CEO, Stephanie Unwin, said, "The Mid West Solar Program is one of many clean energy projects Horizon Power is proudly delivering to our regions." The $15.1 million Mid West Solar Program was supported with $13.5 million in Commonwealth funding and proudly delivered in partnership with Pacific Energy. #RenewableEnergy #Sustainability #GreenEnergy #HorizonPower #MidWestSolarProgram

Last month was full of achievements and milestones - as our future workforce continues to grow and develop... We're excited to welcome three new (great) apprentices to the team - Scott in Carnarvon, Kelly in Broome and Phil in Karratha. All three have started their line worker qualifications and are strongly supported by our regional depot teams, Apprenticeships Support Australia, and Energy Skills Solutions (ESS). We now have apprentices in all our regions, and ten apprentices in total. We'd also like to congratulate three of our engineering graduates - Michael in Esperance, Amie in Broome and Kaveen in Karratha. They've reached the halfway mark of their regional rotation. Some of our engineering graduates recently showcased their talents and knowledge at industry events at Water Corporation, Curtin Uni and UWA. We take great pride in our team's dedication and achievements - as they continue their journey in helping to reshape WA's energy future! ⚡ #FutureWorkforce #HorizonPower #CareerGrowth #apprenticeships #engineering

Horizon Power, is piloting a long-duration vanadium flow battery in Kununurra, aiming to provide cleaner, reliable, and affordable power to regional communities. This innovative battery, supplied by VSUN Energy with a 78-kilowatt capacity and 220 kilowatt hours of storage, is designed to withstand Kimberley's unique climate conditions. 🌞⚡ Energy Minister Reece Whitby visited the battery and highlighted that the pilot will provide Horizon Power with insights on how to integrate long-duration energy storage into its network, microgrids, and other off-grid power systems. This is a significant step towards a sustainable energy future for WA! 🌱🔋 #RenewableEnergy #SustainableFuture #WAEnergy #CleanPower #Innovation

Last month, team members from the Karratha office participated in a community volunteering session at St John Ambulance’s Karratha station. They sorted and organised supplies, swept floors, cleaned the ambulances inside and out, and even scrubbed the BBQ! On Duty Paramedic Melinda Parker was amazed at the difference the team made in just a few short hours. "What an impact! It's so great to have these jobs sorted so that we can wholly focus on supporting the health and wellbeing of the community." Currently, more than 50% of the staff at St John’s Karratha station are community volunteers, and they respond to hundreds of call-outs across the region each year. In 2023, Horizon Power supported St John Karratha with a $10,000 Community Partnership grant for new CPR mannequins, which help train volunteers and members in essential life-saving skills. Well done team! A great morning supporting this critical community service!

🌟 Celebrating Our Future Workforce at Esperance! 🌟 2024 has been an exciting year for the Esperance team as we welcomed our newest recruits, who are already making significant strides in the energy sector. 👏 Casey Cruttenden and Warrick Randall, our dedicated Apprentice Lines People, have reached their 12-month milestone in their Certificate III, Distribution Line Worker (Overhead) qualification. Their commitment to early starts, travel, and training is commendable, all under the expert guidance of Works Delivery Manager Darren Hassell and the broader Esperance Team. 🚀 Michael Anderson, our Engineering Graduate who joined in July, is thriving in his regional rotation. Thanks to the fantastic support from Esperance Asset Manager Chris Reading and Regional Manager Layton Baker, Michael is gaining invaluable operational experience. He has also embraced community involvement, attending the annual Esperance Agricultural Show with Superstar Gilbert! We are proud of our team's achievements and look forward to seeing them continue to grow and excel. Here's to a bright future in the world of energy! #FutureWorkforce #Apprenticeships #Engineering #EnergySector #HorizonPowerEsperance #CareerGrowth
