JFD Australia, the safe, trusted and established provider of Australia’s world class submarine rescue system, was delighted to host a UK Trade delegation at its Australian headquarters and advanced production facility at Bibra Lake, south of Perth, Western Australia.   Delegates from UK based companies as well as representatives from the WA Government and British Consular General, British High Commission (Canberra), Kathryn Essex & Commander Peter Stanton-Brown, Head of SubClub, enjoyed their inspection of the fully-integrated system which included getting inside the submarine rescue vehicle to understand its size and ability to dive down underwater to rescue a submarine crew in the event of an emergency.   JFD, which has its global headquarters in Aberdeen, also provides the NATO submarine rescue system of which the UK is a key partner. Keeping submariners safe around the world will always be our highest priority.

JFD Australia is proud to support the submariners, engineers and defence force personnel of the future and welcomed participants from the Subs in Schools program to our national headquarters at Bibra Lake which is where Australia’s submarine rescue system is maintained and “rescue ready” at all times. These students had competed in the world’s first in-class submarine design competition which aims to encourage young people to consider a career in Australia’s defence industry. Using design, coding and electronics skills, entrants had to complete a set of simple and complex tasks over three days and the results were spectacular! Congratulations to all and we hoped you enjoyed having a close-up look at some of the underwater equipment JFD supplies to our defence force personnel to keep them safe underwater.

Well done to JFD Australia Chair, RADM Dr Allan du Toit AM RAN (Rtd) who hosted and facilitated the final discussion “Operating the Deterrence” at the 2024 Submarine Institute of Australia's 12th Biennial Conference in Canberra this afternoon.   A fascinating end to a wonderful three days of discussion and debate on the importance of Australia’s submarine force as a deterrent.    As the trusted and reliable provider of the nation’s submarine rescue system - a critical sovereign capability - JFD Australia’s number one priority will always be supporting our submariners and keeping them safe.

 JFD, in Australia and globally, has a unique and unrivalled experience in submarine rescue through its delivery of most of the world’s submarine rescue systems including both the Australian and the NATO systems (of which the UK is a main partner).  It drew on this experience and expertise during this morning’s presentation on the critically important topic of “Keeping AUKUS submariners safe”, part of today’s Technology & Social Licence session at the Submarine Institute of Australia's 12th Biennial Conference in Canberra.     It was a great opportunity to hear from Chris Cleghorn, JFD Australia’s manager of the submarine escape and rescue system.

JFD Australia was delighted to host Deputy Opposition Leader the Hon Sussan Ley MP and Simon Kennedy MP for a tour of its new advanced manufacturing centre at Caringbah, south of Sydney. As the trusted, reliable and proven underwater combat partner of the Royal Australian Navy (RAN), JFD supplies world-leading rebreathing and diving equipment and recompression chambers to the RAN and navies around the world. Our guests were able to inspect and try on some of this equipment and learn more about JFD’s commitment to keeping Australia’s defence force personnel safe underwater.

JFD Australia was a significant participant at Indian Ocean Defence & Security (IODS) 2024 which welcomed around 5000 attendees from 25 nations providing an invaluable platform for strategic dialogue across all JFD capability streams. Maritime defence challenges are rapidly evolving across the region as well as globally in response to emerging threats and technological advancements and JFD continues its commitment to support defence forces with its world-leading submarine rescue, submarine platforms and special operations equipment and services. With key themes of AUKUS, interoperability, and technological innovation, JFD Australia’s Chair Dr Allan du Toit AM, gave a thought provoking presentation on the history, current status and future opportunities available to further enhance Australia’s submarine rescue operations a sovereign capability JFD has provided to the Royal Australian Navy for over 15 years.
