Presented at the Ground Matters Student Conference this year, Kerstin Thompson discusses how ground matters have been foundational to KTA’s practice. She explores how the ways in which our architecture critically relates to Australia’s diverse landscapes – and to disciplinary, theoretical and historical groundings. Timothy Hill speaks on architecture's profound ability to evoke powerful responses. How it can heighten our awareness of the intrinsic aspects of habitation and the landscape. Through careful attention to detail, materiality, and spatial relationships, architecture can continuously engage and provoke genuine perceptions and responses. We're proud to share that Antara 128 was highly commended in the hospitality category for the IDEA 2024 Awards. Congratulations team! Antara provides various dining settings typically found in brasseries. The existing concrete was preserved and harmonised with refined joinery and structural elements. A unifying dark green curtain adjacent to the kitchen adds depth and connects the kitchen and dining areas. Antara means between. Between places, between spaces. Congratulations Leo Showell, on being selected as one of the 30 shortlisted architects for the 2025 Australian Institute of Architects Dulux Study Tour.   The jury chair and AIA national president-elect Adam Haddow said “We were impressed by the calibre and vision of this year’s candidates. Congratulations to Jack Mansfield-Hung and Spike (Michael) Whittingham who recently passed their final architectural practice exam! Since joining KTA in 2021, Jack has contributed to the development of our computational design and BIM systems; Spike has been a leader in our Reconciliation Working Group, taking on pro-bono work for The Olkola Aboriginal Corporation. We feel very proud to celebrate their achievement.

🌟 39th Dulux Colour Awards – Entries Open & Judges’ Announcement 🌟 The 39th Dulux Colour Awards are now officially open for entries, inviting architects, interior designers, specifiers, and students from Australia and New Zealand to submit their most innovative and inspiring projects. The prestigious awards celebrate exceptional and creative use of Dulux colour in design across a diverse range of interior and exterior spaces, including residential, public, and commercial environments. Five of Australia and New Zealand’s most prolific architects and designers, who have been recognised and awarded for their own work, will judge the 2025 awards entrants’ based on innovation, expression and execution of Dulux colour and product. Andrea Lucena-Orr, Dulux Colour and Communications Manager, will be the sixth and convening judge. This year’s panel includes Director of Interior SJB, Andrew Parr, Kim Bridgland of Edition Office, Rachel Luchetti of Luchetti Krelle, Kerstin Thompson with Kerstin Thompson Architects and Alex McLeod Alex McLeod, with at.space. On being part of this year’s judging panel, Andrew Parr explains that the Dulux Colour Awards provide an exciting opportunity to witness and assess some of the most inspiring and innovative techniques being employed by the best of the best to push the boundaries of colour in architecture and design. Great to see KTA's Balfe Park Lane featured in The Age (Sunday 27th Oct) as an exemplar medium density housing project, supported by The State Government.   Minister for Planning of Victoria, Sonya Kilkenny comments:   "The community deserves affordable buildings that look great on the outside and feel solid as a rock on the inside.
