"When I started as a grad and worked on my first project, I'd be working on small tasks and then have them reviewed by more experienced team members on the project for feedback. I can already see that my skills have grown now that I'm on my second and third projects. I'm working more with clients and helping to run meetings, I'm thinking about questions we need answered for the audit. I have a better understanding of the work I do, which means I rely less on constant guidance and instruction but now seek opinions and understand the feedback I get. What I do depends on what engagement I’m on, what stage we are at, and the demands for that time of year. Right now, I’m working on two engagements, being involved in both audit and project management. I might be organising meetings and agendas so things run smoothly, figuring out what we need to talk through for an internal audit, or reviewing the client's internal processes and assessing that against international best practice and standards to make recommendations. I wasn't entirely sure what I wanted to do with my Commerce and Accounting degree - I majored in Management and Accounting. I was open to all possibilities when I interviewed for a KPMG grad role and this position with the Governance, Risk and Compliance team came up and felt like a good fit. It has been a fantastic team to join and learn in - everyone is supportive and friendly. We have a great group of grads in Canberra and I have made many lifelong friends. My next step is to complete my Chartered Accountant qualification through work next two years. There will be a lot of study and hard work involved, so it will be a big achievement and I'm excited to see where that takes me." Stay tuned for applications opening in February: https://lnkd.in/gVZNHRxW
