What a year we have had! 2024 has been one of LGITSA’s most successful and impactful to date. We hosted our May Forum, which gave members the opportunity to discuss the future role of local government IT and IM teams’, how they interact within their organisations, and the importance of continuing to drive flexibility and adaptability in the future. We continued our theme of adaptability at our September Conference, this year entitled ‘CTRL + ALT + ADAPT’, where we discussed the dynamic landscapes of IT and IM, the need to embrace and manage drivers of change, and strategies to adapt to evolving conditions well into the future. The September Conference coincided with our AGM, where we welcomed our 2024/25 Board and recognised the contributions of three key LGITSA members with Life Membership. Congratulations to Nathaniel Mason, Karin Swiatnik, and James Sinden on this well-deserved accolade. At the LGITSA Annual Gala Awards Dinner, we recognised the most innovative and resourceful within local government in South Australia. Congratulations to all 2024 award winners! We launched two new initiatives, the LGITSA Generative AI Guidelines and the LGITSA Data Governance Framework, both of which have been specifically designed to support South Australian Councils. Thank you to Robinson Ryan, the LGA South Australia, and all LGITSA Members for their contribution to the development of these documents. We would like to sincerely thank our sponsors for their ongoing support this year. We have been thrilled to welcome both new and returning sponsors onboard for 2024/25, and we thank them for their commitment to LGITSA and its members. Thank you to our platinum sponsors, Amazon Web Services (AWS), Box, and Compnow, our gold sponsors, Arctic Wolf, Bing Technologies Pty Ltd, Centelon Solutions, Comunet, Data#3, Datacom, Fortinet, Infor, ISD Cyber, MTX APAC, Nitro Software, ReadyTech, SynergyIQ, TechnologyOne, Veeam Software, Vestone Capital, Vocus, and YourDC, and our silver sponsor, Ricoh Australia. The LGITSA Board wishes you a safe and happy festive season. We can’t wait to see what 2025 has in store!

  • Australia’s AI Month runs from 14 October to 15 November 2024.      Now in its second year, AI Month encourages us to think about Australia’s AI proficiency.  It is an opportunity for us to consider how we can create an inclusive, responsible, and global-best domestic AI sector and share Australia’s AI expertise with the world, showcasing and celebrating our AI capabilities, talent, and potential.    LGITSA has developed the Local Government Generative AI Guidelines, which seek to promote sector wide awareness for the safe and responsible use of emerging technologies, specifically within the local government context.    With contributions from many of our colleagues, Member Councils and independent legal expertise, the AI Guidelines are intended to support local government agencies to consider the risks of Generative AI, embed safe AI-based practices, and remain proactive about the opportunities that the technology presents.     To view LGITSA’s Local Government Generative AI Guidelines, click below: https://lnkd.in/dwrY4VCc
