Our CEO, Megan Callinan recently had the opportunity to meet with the Honourable Chris Minns, Premier of NSW to advocate for equity of access to health services for rural NSW through investment in sector-led workforce development initiatives. The NSW Government recently invested in Marathon Health’s Aboriginal Workforce Development Initiative which over the last 18 months has led to 29 First Nations people across three cohorts graduating with a qualification in health or community services, while they gained relevant work experience in their local community. Of the first two cohorts, 94% have secured ongoing employment relevant to their qualification and 80% remain living and working in Western NSW. We thank the NSW Government for their investment in this program and look forward to future investment focused on unlocking the potential health workforce within rural communities.
