MIRA>> We are thrilled to announce that Measure Engineering has been appointed as the lead design engineer on the MIRA project with Frank Developments   MIRA is a 25 storey building with 3 levels basement and just a few metres away from stunning Northcliffe beach, Queensland.  Working alongside Ferro Chow Architecture we have minimized the building mass and footprint to retain view corridors, with MIRA’s impact on the skyline significantly less than conventional neighbouring developments. To successfully achieve this design intent, MIRA is a super slender structure with the height/width ratio more than 13 bringing complex challenges for the structural design and detail (noting that Australia 108, the current tallest building in Australia has the height/width ratio = 7.0 ) and meaning MIRA poses technical challenges to control the lateral deflection and storey drift under wind load due to it’s slender nature. The project is being led by our National Technical Director Jun Zhou and Queensland Manager Justin Turner who are working closely with the broader project group and client to achieve the most efficient structural design by considering raft and pile soil interactions in footing design and by using raking drift design philosophy to optimise core wall layout and avoid roof top tuning tank.  Due to structural sensitivity to wind force, fatigue design in core wall has also been designed and detailed to ensure the building robustness and integrity through the whole design life of the structure. PROJECT COMPLETION>> Mansard, Kooyong We are excited to see the completion of our Mansard Kooyong project, elegantly designed by Carr, and comprising three built forms with two individual points of entry. The structural design includes single level solider pile basement with suspended post-tensioned Ground Level, Level 1 and Level 2 floor plates supported on both insitu concrete columns and AFS walls. The distinctive Mansard roof constructed with a hybrid structure of both lightweight steel framing as well as suspended post-tensioned concrete. HOTEL SORRENTO>> We are excited to see the latest stage of our coastal hospitality project reach completion just in time for the peak summer period. The Hotel Sorrento Rooftop and Salt Bar included the redesign of the existing lower level salt bar and extended upper roof top bar area.
