It was an honour to receive support from the Lord Mayor's Charitable Trust 2024 Christmas Grant Round. Micah Projects is incredibly grateful for this generosity, which enables us to make a real impact this festive season. With this support, we can: ✨ Host Christmas lunches at Kurilpa Hall and Brisbane Common Ground ✨ Provide gift cards to 10 families in crisis, and ✨ Deliver 100 gifts for teenagers supported by our Homelessness and Domestic Violence services. Attending the grant presentation was a wonderful opportunity to connect with other inspiring NFP's and charities. It’s always empowering to hear how we can work together to make a difference. Thank you to Adrian Schrinner, Nina Schrinner, and The Lord Mayor's Charitable Trust for fostering this incredible spirit of collaboration and care!

Day 4 of the 12 Days of Giving Campaign and we wanted to focus on Micah Projects today. Micah run many programs but the one I want to specifically mention is the Phoenix Program - a 6-month pilot program funded by Department of Youth Justice and aimed at early intervention and community safety. Phoenix works with young women who've experienced DFV to increase their safety, connection and wellness. The program is founded in three pillars: identity, embodiment and connection – And AoE has just begun a conversation with the fabulous Phoenix facilitators on how drama and theatre might support these outcomes - offering embodiment, but also some distance and capacity for consideration. Please help us build these bridges: Find out more and make a donation here: https://lnkd.in/g_3mnaMQ The Rowan‘s Story Project is supported by the Queensland Government through Arts Queensland and by the Australian Cultural Fund Majella Nicolo Ria Wong Micah Projects Erica Fryberg Lauren Harvey Shaun Charles Adrianne Jones Dr Bridget Boyle Cleveland District State High School Belinda Raisin Katrina Hasthorpe Jessica Veurman Zachary Boulton Johanna Searles #makingculturehappen #acf #australianculturalfund #brisbanetheatre #dramaeducation

At QIC we’ve been talking a lot about our ‘purpose’. It’s something I’ve been struggling to connect with from a work perspective. Last month I took advantage of QIC’s Community Day and volunteered at Micah Projects kitchen, preparing and serving meals for homeless people. It’s the first time I’ve truly felt connected to our ‘purpose’ - I love that we get to give back to our community in more ways than one. Thank you to the team at QIC for creating these opportunities for us, and to Micah Projects for trusting us. I’ll definitely be back, hopefully with improved culinary skills 😄

"Shame dies when stories are told in safe spaces.... We have to get better at having the conversation." Ria, Micah Projects, DVF Services Custer Lead. This morning I was privileged to join a fabulous community breakfast run by Micah Projects at Hope on Boundary - and met an extraordinary group of people who work to fill a social need, wherever they see it - DV, homelessness, mental health (especially for our young people)... In celebration of International Human Rights Day, Assembly of Elephants is excited to launch our 12 Days of Giving campaign in partnership with Micah Projects. We're inspired by their community work supporting families impacted by family and domestic violence. And we think we can offer support, too. TOXICITY uses theatre to create those safe spaces - spaces where young people can engage in critical conversations about healthy relationships, gender equity and respect. We're fundraising through the Australian Cultural Fund to bring this transformative experience to Year 11 students at Cleveland District SHS in 2025. Watch our video to learn more about the project, the process and how your support can make a difference. And 50% of all donations go directly to Micah Projects - so you double your impact - supporting families in need and empowering young voices.
