Congratulations to the winners of the 2024 Mornington Peninsula Wine Show! At a lively awards lunch at Montalto last Friday, we celebrated the region's exceptional winemakers and diversity of styles. Highlights include Michael Kyberd, awarded Best Small Winemaker, and Paringa Estate Winery & Restaurant Estate, which took home three trophies, including Best Pinot Noir for their 2022 ‘Estate’ Pinot Noir. Montalto won the Sparkling Trophy with its 2017 Cuvee One, and Yabby Lake Vineyard and Montalto excelled in the Chardonnay and Pinot Noir Provenance categories, respectively. We're thrilled to share that Lindsay McCall of Paringa Estate Winery & Restaurant has been recognised as the 2024 Victorian "Legend of the Vine". Surrounded by industry colleagues and friends at the Melbourne Royal® Wine Show Awards on Friday, Lindsay received this distinguished award for his remarkable contributions to the Mornington Peninsula and Victorian wine industries. An initiative of Wine Communicators of Australia Inc, Lindsay joins an illustrious list including respected names such as Alister Purbrick, Ross Brown and Jeni Port and is pictured here with his son and winemaker, Jamie, partner Sally Gudgeon and daughter, Sarah. “Lindsay’s dedication has been central to the growth and success of the Peninsula’s wine industry,” said Angus Barnes, WCA National Executive Chairman. “He has been a reliable, consistent force for progress, mentoring others and creating pathways for the region’s continued success. His legacy will inspire future generations of winemakers in Victoria.” Big congratulations Lindsay, your contributions have left an indelible mark, ensuring that the Mornington Peninsula and Victorian wine industries are positioned for a strong and prosperous future.

The innovation and diversity of the Mornington Peninsula was celebrated this week with outstanding results at National Wine Show of Australia awards in Canberra, where Rollo Crittenden of Crittenden Wines and Luke Lomax of Devil's Baie collected thoroughly deserved trophies from Prime Minister Anthony Albanese. Surprised and delighted to receive the award, Rollo Crittenden said, “To be recognised with a trophy at the National Wine Show is extremely humbling and encouraging that a show of this calibre saw fit to recognise a wine that is quite different from the Australian norm.
