#Regional outreach and #training are one part of how we help prevent corruption in NSW. Last week the NSW Independent Commission Against Corruption visited #Tamworth in the Hunter New England region as part of its rural and regional outreach program to share anti-corruption initiatives and training across the state. This program helps the Commission to connect with public officials and communities outside the metropolitan area. The event brought together #integrity experts from the state and national level to talk about #corruption issues and integrity among public officials. At a public and community leaders’ forum, ICAC Chief Commissioner the Hon John Hatzistergos AM spoke on corruption and integrity, and stressed the importance of #reporting suspected public sector corrupt conduct in NSW to the Commission. The Chief Commissioner was joined by the Chief Commissioner of the Law Enforcement Conduct Commission (LECC), the Hon Peter Johnson SC, NSW Deputy Ombudsman, Jacqueline Fredman, and National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) Deputy Commissioner, Kylie Kilgour, in an engaging panel where they shared their expertise and discussed the roles and functions of their agencies. The week was a wonderful opportunity to share and grow skills, complete with #workshops for public officials in the area, visits to local councils, information sessions for local electorate staff and visits to local TAFEs.
