How can quantum technology transform logistics and supply chains? NEC Australia's National Portfolio Manager for Quantum Services and Solutions, Michael Hall, recently explored this at the latest ‘Quantum Meets’ series in Perth: Quantum Meets Logistics. Facilitated by the Department of Industry, Science and Resources and Australian Chief Scientist, Dr Cathy Foley, this series aims to accelerate the adoption of quantum technologies, foster cross-sector collaboration, and identify industry challenges that quantum can help solve. The Quantum Meets Logistics event brought together quantum experts, government agencies, and industry leaders to discuss these transformative possibilities. On the panel, Michael shared NEC’s insights and highlighted successful, real-world examples from our partner D-Wave’s quantum annealing capabilities to address logistical challenges. He discussed economic factors and the scale of problems current quantum systems can tackle, emphasizing how quantum computing can optimise operations and deliver substantial cost savings – even incremental improvements can translate to tens of millions of dollars in savings for businesses.
