We are proud to announce that Nilsen Group (Vic) has won the 2024 NECA Vic Awards in the Industrial Large Project category! Nilsen’s work on the Cross Yarra Partnership underground Metro stations, the first project of its kind in Victoria since the 1980s, involved installing HV distribution and traction power systems in seven locations. Despite the challenges posed by the project’s scale and the complexities of working underground, Nilsen completed 43 substations, requiring over 330 kilometers of cabling, all while ensuring the highest standards of safety and efficiency. We also congratulate our exceptional runner up: Stowe Australia for their work on the Building Services Upgrade at 140 William Street and Project Banksia, as well as our finalists, Teoma Group for their innovative PET plastics recycling line installation, and GPE Electrical and Communications Contractor for their role in the construction of Opal’s high-speed corrugated packaging facility. #IndustrialProjects #NECAVicAwards2024 #NilsenVic #StoweAustralia #TeomaGroup #GPEElectrical #ElectricalEngineering

  • Nilsen (WA) Unveils New Training Centre to Shape the Future of Electrical Industry Talent On 2 October 2024, Nilsen (WA) Pty Ltd proudly opened the doors to its new state-of-the-art Training Centre at our Bibra Lake facility in Western Australia. This milestone marks a significant step in our commitment to developing top-tier talent within the electro-technology industry. The opening event was attended by the Hon. Hannah Beazley, Minister Assisting the Minister for Training and Workforce Development and His Worship Logan Howlett (JP), Mayor of City of Cockburn, underscoring the importance of workforce development and the growing need for practical, industry-focused training solutions. At Nilsen, we recognise that the traditional methods of electrical training, which often focus on domestic installations, don't fully equip apprentices for the complexities of commercial and maintenance work. Our new Training Centre bridges this gap, providing hands-on, practical experience with specialist equipment in high-voltage, low-voltage, data, communications, and switchboard applications. This facility allows apprentices and experienced tradespeople to sharpen their skills, ensuring they are ready to meet the demands of a rapidly evolving industry. The Training Centre is not just a space for technical growth; it’s a place where our apprentices can take charge of their learning, practice on advanced equipment, and work closely with mentors. As an organisation, we are proud to invest in the future of our people and the electrical industry as a whole. This initiative reflects Nilsen’s long-standing commitment to quality, innovation, and the development of Australia’s future workforce. We look forward to seeing the positive impact this Centre will have on our staff, clients, and the wider community. #Nilsen #WorkforceDevelopment #ElectricalTraining #Innovation #ElectroTechnology

  • Another lighting control project delivered by our Nilsen Networks Energy Management team for valued client University of Western Australia. Using the Philips Dynalite system Nilsen Networks were able to design and commission a custom system tailored to the Universities Aquaculture Centre that support the breeding of Fish species. The system mimics natural light to support the health of the fish and allows the head researcher to adjust lighting to suit breeding cycles.

The The University of Western Australia has a world class aquaculture facility where students and researchers study the breeding cycles of fish in a controlled environment. Like humans, animals have a circadian rhythm that drives many biological functions. The indoor aquaculture facility therefore required good-quality lighting that mimics natural day/night cycles to support the health of the fish. Discover how our CSI, Nilsen Group, went above and beyond to implement a solution that was innovative, scalable, and extremely reliable. #PhilipsDynalite #ConnectedLighting #LightingControl
