  • It was fantastic to have Minister Steven Edgington MLA Edgington and Minister Gerard Maley on site to witness our first export train being loaded with magnetite concentrate from the Warrego Rehabilitation Project.    We look forward to continuing our work in the Barkley region and contributing to the Northern Territory Economy.

I recently had the privilege of visiting the newly operating Warrego Tailings Project located west of Tennant Creek. This project is set to produce up to 1.5 million tonnes of magnetite concentrate per annum, marking a significant milestone for local development and growth. Minister for Mining, Gerard Maley and I met with Nathan Doab to witness the first export train being loaded! Our Government is committed to supporting the mining and resources industry, and it's exciting to see Northern Iron begin production. Congratulations to Northern Iron on this achievement – I’m looking forward to seeing the continued progress in the Barkly region.

  • Big thanks to our logistics partner Aurizon for helping make our first rail shipment of magnetite concentrate from the Warrego Rehabilitation Project possible.    Aurizon’s Argyle Siding allows us to easily transport our processed magnetite concentrate from our site 50km northwest of Tennant Creek all the way to Darwin Port, with a pretty good view along the way.   We look forward to seeing the Aurizon train as it makes many more mine to port trips.

𝗘𝘅𝗰𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗡𝗲𝘄𝘀! Aurizon has commenced railings for Bulk Central’s customer, Northern Iron Pty Ltd, from the Warrego Rehabilitation Project near Tennant Creek, Northern Territory. We’re set to transport up to 1.2 million tonnes of magnetite iron ore annually over a 1,000 km journey from mine to port. With new equipment and facilities at Darwin Port, including two mobile harbour cranes and a stevedoring operation, we now offer an integrated supply chain solution direct to ship. Our investment in central Australia, highlighted by the One Rail acquisition in 2022, underscores our commitment to serving the growing markets for resources, agribusiness, renewable energy, and general freight. The 2,240 km Tarcoola to Darwin railway is a key corridor, directly connecting to the Darwin Port, the closest port to Asia. • What a week it’s been for Northern Iron and the Warrego Rehabilitation Project!   We are thrilled to announce the first rail shipment of magnetite concentrate from our Tennant Creek site to the Port of Darwin which is now in full production.   Over the lifespan of the Warrego Rehabilitation Project Northern Iron will produce 3.8 million tonnes of magnetite concentrate generating significant economic and employment benefits to the local and broader Northern Territory community.   Magnetite from the Warrego Rehabilitation Project will provide the steel manufacturing industry throughout Asia with an alternative to traditional iron ore-based steel production methods and will significantly reduce carbon emissions.   Thank you to our incredible team and associated stakeholders for their hard work to take this project from vision to production.

  • We’re proud to have sponsored this incredible group of students to represent Australia at the world's largest hydrogen racing competition, the Hydrogen Grand Prix (H2GP) in California. Hydrogen will play a huge role in decarbonising the steel industry along with green steel products like the magnetite that will be produced at our Warrego Rehabilitation Project.   Good luck to the team!🏎️

The True North team had the privilege of working on a fundraising campaign to help get a group of 5 high school students from the Northern Territory to California for the STEM education Hydrogen Grand Prix (H2GP) 2024 World Finals in September. This project culminated in a media event with Chief Minister Eva Lawler on Friday at Palmerston Christian College.    True North would like to give a huge shout out to our clients who have generously supported this project, including TE H2, Tivan Limited and Northern Iron Pty Ltd. The team also received personal donations and government support, both which will massively contribute to a successful and rewarding trip for the students.    The Territory spirit shone brightly for these NT students!   There’s still time to support this incredible initiative by donating here: https://gofund.me/6f3652d8   #hydrogen #renewables #H2GP #STEM #fundraising #middlearm #majorprojects #sustainability #education   NT Christian Schools Steve Margetic Nathan Doab Ellin Lede, PhD Claire Punch Grace Amanatidis Natalie Andrews

  • What a difference the dry season makes! ☀️   Northern Iron is making significant progress at the Warrego Rehabilitation Project, standing steel and moving dirt.   Despite a slow start due to the persistent wet season and a few cyclones, our construction work is well underway.   With major procurement completed, we’ve delivered all key components to site and have assembled over half of the structural steel. A big thanks to Ross Engineering from Alice Springs for their steel fabrication work. Their precision has allowed the construction team from Process 26 to really hit their straps in assembling the steel and installing the mechanical equipment.   Remote Industries has also been making great progress since they finished the structural concrete. They’ve completed the site haul road and have started relocating the initial plant feed material. This important step creates a void in our dams to spoil the plant reject once we begin processing.   Our logistics partners at Aurizon have been hard at work too. They’ve finished the new bulk loading facility, Argyle Siding, and are preparing their rolling stock and rail crews. Combined with the facilities at Darwin Port, this rounds out our project. #northerniron Industry Northern Territory Minerals Council of Australia - NT AMEC (Association of Mining and Exploration Companies)

  • Northern Iron would like to welcome Kris Oliver to our team as Chief Operating Officer.   Kris has worked within the mining and civil construction industry for over 20 years and is known for his strong leadership and project delivery experience.   As Chief Operating Officer Kris will lead Northern Iron through their transition from the construction phase of the Warrego Rehabilitation Project into the sustainable production of Noble Centre Magnetite.    As a lover of markets and heli-pub crawls Kris is on his way to becoming a local and is looking forward to exploring past the Berrimah line and meeting more top end characters. Welcome Kris!   #northerniron

  • Did you know our signature magnetite concentrate, Noble Centre Magnetite, gets its name from the history of Tennant Creek?   In the 1930's Tennant Creek was in gold rush fever and like many others, legendary prospector Jack Noble came to the small Northern Territory town hoping to strike it rich in the outback.   Legend has it that while others headed for known gold fields, Jack took a chance on a local rumour and headed into the hills outside of Tennant Creek, becoming the first to explore and find gold in the area now known as Nobles Nob mine.  With his fortune in hand, Jack returned to Tennant Creek and gave back to the community by helping to build a school and hospital.    Inspired by Jack Noble's spirit of exploration and community Northern Iron has named the magnetite concentrate produced at the Warrego Rehabilitation Project 'Noble Centre Magnetite'.   You can find out more about the Warrego Rehabilitation Project at our website: www.northern-iron.com.au

West Coast Projects is pleased to announce its collaboration with Northern Iron in facilitating the planning, execution, commissioning, and management of the Warrego Rehabilitation Project situated near Tennant Creek in the Northern Territory. This unique project will rehabilitate the legacy held by the Northern Territory Government through reprocessing of the historical low grade stockpiles to extract and produce a high grade magnetite concentrate, while also revitalizing the area.
