Here's some good news in time for the weekend: Australia now has capacity and capability for PET plastic tray-to-tray circularity thanks to a collaboration between Pact Group Holdings Ltd, Woolworths Group, Hilton Foods and Cleanaway Waste Management that will see PET meat trays and fruit & veg punnets (which until now have largely not been recycled, and even then have been downcycled) get a second life. Collected kerbside, they'll be recycled at Circular Plastics Australia PET facility in Altona North, which is run by Pact, and then remanufactured (thermoformed) into new food-grade trays and punnets. Viva collaboration!
