Protegas Australia is committed to helping grow the next generation of Intelligence professionals. After engaging interns from tertiary institutions over the last two years, in 2024, we have taken the step to bring on board our first graduate. Sam W. joined our team in August and has subsequently undertaken on-the-job training and had controlled exposure to various intelligence disciplines. We trust Sam, and as such, continue to offer him opportunities to learn and grow. We are aiming to give our graduates the best possible start to their intelligence career. Sam has stated that his work at Protegas constantly challenges him and as a result he is learning and developing the skills required of an intelligence professional. "Protegas has been continually involved in my development as an intelligence practitioner, with a desire to help me grow as a young intelligence professional being evident from my very first day with Protegas. Many organisations select junior and mid-level leaders based on their performance in their past role (in which they may have had no leadership experience). Often the individual receives no leadership training before stepping into their new role. To help build leaders in the intelligence and emergency management sectors Protegas Australia has again partnered with UNSW Canberra to deliver two short courses: Leading teams in a crisis and Leadership and Management of Intelligence Teams. Arran Hassell CSC and Bon D. lead these courses with a strong mix of practical experience and theory based training and education. This week Arran Hassell CSC represented Protegas Australia at the Protective Security in Government Conference and spoke about the changing geo-strategic landscape; threats facing private and public organisations’ security; and the importance of organisations securing their information, people and physical facilities in order to build trust when collaborating with other organisations. We are only two weeks away from Arran Hassell CSC and Bon D. delivering two short courses with UNSW - Canberra. The first of the courses is Leading Teams in a Crisis which will take participants through techniques of leading a team, managing yourself as a leader, and managing decision making in the high stress environment of a crisis. This course will run on Wednesday 13 November 2024 at the UNSW Reid campus. The second course is Leadership and Management in Intelligence which is a unique course built for intelligence leaders looking to refine their leadership of intelligence professionals and intelligence teams. The Severe/High Risk Weather Season is upon us. Protegas Australia remains ready to again support State Governments, Emergency Management Agencies, and LGAs with the provision of hazard warning, intelligence, and insights in the lead up to, during and after major events. In past years Protegas Australia has provided Open Source Intelligence support, intelligence capability uplift advice, exercise management, and intelligence training to Federal, State and Local government entities in preparation for and during the Severe Weather Season. This year we are ready to provide hazard warning as well.
