We’re excited to share our collaboration with Queensland Performing Arts Centre (QPAC), featuring Kurt, the Director of First Nations Strategy. Kurt plays a key role in fostering connections with communities and enhancing First Nations cultural participation. The Stronger Smarter Institute has been empowering teachers, communities and support staff to lead transformational change for First Nations students in schools and communities across Australia for nearly 20 years and as a result of our glowing reputation QPAC have a wonderful offer to schools. QPAC will donate computer screens to schools in need. They have updated their venue and have replaced all screens which are relatively new. If you would like to request these screens QPAC have up to 90 screens to give away. Please fill in the proforma attached to the link below if you are interested and submit by Friday 22 November. https://lnkd.in/g26aji8W #IndigenousEducation #StrongerSmarter #QPAC #CommunitySupport #EducationalImpact

Today, Queensland celebrates World Teachers' Day - an opportunity to acknowledge and thank our teachers for their important role in our communities and for the positive impact they have on the lives of students We're thrilled to share some incredible words from author Trent Dalton, whose life has been altered by a multitude of incredible Queensland educators: "The teachers at Bracken Ridge State High School between the years of 1992 and 1996 changed my life. They inspired me, they challenged me, they defended me, they saw things in me that I didn't see in myself. My maths teacher Brad McLean, drama teacher Melissa Macnevin, English teacher Brian Jentz... I need these people's names tattooed on the palm of my writing hand. I still remember the day English teacher Shirley Adams told me to stop being so angry with the world and so cut up about the world and start writing something worthwhile about the world. The words changed my life. For her 90th birthday I sent Shirley a copy of my book 'Love Stories'. I inscribed in it: '𝘋𝘦𝘢𝘳 𝘚𝘩𝘪𝘳𝘭𝘦𝘺, 𝘢𝘭𝘭 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘯𝘦𝘦𝘥 𝘪𝘴 𝘭𝘰𝘷𝘦. 𝘈𝘭𝘭 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘋𝘢𝘭𝘵𝘰𝘯 𝘣𝘰𝘺𝘴 𝘯𝘦𝘦𝘥𝘦𝘥 𝘸𝘢𝘴 𝘺𝘰𝘶." How do you make a theatre technician? You start by providing quality training from industry experts and you house it all in the state's premier Performing Arts venue. QPAC recently hosted Tech Connect Queensland Block Training where trainees and supervisors from across the state participated in a three-week block of intensive instruction and assessments. The one-year traineeship will see the successful candidates achieve a Certificate III in Live Production and Technical Services issued through the Arts Centre Melbourne’s Registered Training Organisation. Supervisors gain a Certificate IV in Live Production and Technical Services including the knowledge and skills to train and mentor staff in the workplace. We are pleased to share some highlights of our Supporters Event, where potential partners and advocates got to see the training up close and personal. We gratefully acknowledge our partners Arts Centre Melbourne, Stage Queensland and QPAC, with generous support from the Vincent Fairfax Family Foundation.

"Be a teacher. Please be a teacher. Teachers are the most admirable and important people in the world. Share your ideas. Don’t take for granted your education. Rejoice in what you learn, and spread it.” - Tim Minchin Today we celebrate World Teacher's Day, held annually on 5 October to celebrate all teachers around the globe. It is a day to celebrate how teachers are transforming education but also to reflect on the support they need to fully deploy their talent and vocation, and to rethink the way ahead for the profession globally. Here at QPAC, we are committed providing support for teachers who are creating memorable educational experiences for students of all ages and backgrounds. Clancestry ended on a high in August 2024 in another brilliant program showcasing First Nations arts and culture at QPAC. Over ten vibrant days, more than 130 established and emerging First Nations artists shared their stories, perspectives, and culture across 24 performances in live music events, creative works, thought-provoking conversations, and fun family activities. The festival was headlined by the powerful Warriors concert, featuring powerhouse performances from Andrew Gurruwiwi Band, J MILLA, Jungaji, and Radical Son; and an incredible season of contemporary dance in Bangarra Dance Theatre's groundbreaking cross-cultural collaboration, Horizon. A heartfelt thank you to our artists, audiences, crew, creatives, and partners for making this year’s festival an extraordinary success. We hope you enjoyed it and look forward to welcoming you back for Clancestry 2025! Clancestry Supporting Partner: Energex

QPAC has joined Hidden Disabilities Sunflower - Australia & New Zealand to support people with disabilities that may not be immediately visible, such as autism, dementia, mental health issues, or learning difficulties. People can choose to wear a sunflower lanyard or pin as a subtle way of letting others know they have a non-visible disability and may require additional support, assistance, or a bit more time 🌻 Find out more about the Sunflower > https://lnkd.in/g_AhNTut

QPAC is proud to join the global community in acknowledging the International Day of the World’s Indigenous Peoples. This significant day, proclaimed by the United Nations, honours the rich cultures, traditions, and contributions of Indigenous peoples worldwide while raising awareness about the challenges they continue to face. There are an estimated 476 million Indigenous Peoples in the world living across 90 countries. They make up less than six per cent of the world's population, but account for at least 15 per cent of the poorest. They speak an overwhelming majority of the world’s estimated 7,000 languages and represent 5,000 different cultures. In order to raise awareness of the needs of these population groups, every 9 August commemorates the International Day of the World’s Indigenous Peoples, chosen in recognition of the first meeting of the UN Working Group on Indigenous Populations held in Geneva in 1982. We’re thrilled to share this insightful video with Mapei General Manager Marco De Santis as he discusses the reasons behind the organisation’s partnership with QPAC. Although the alignment might not be obvious on the surface, a recognition of the importance of the arts and a long history of support – beginning in La Scala, Milan – brings it all together. We extend our heartfelt thanks to Mapei for their continued support. We’re proud to have such a dedicated and passionate partner on board!
