This year marks a spectacular milestone in Queensland's rich tapestry of history—165 years since the birth of the Treasury Department! In 1859, as Queensland proudly stepped out from the shadow of New South Wales to stand as a distinct colony, the Treasury department came into existence, personified by the appointment of our first Colonial Treasurer, Robert Ramsay Mackenzie. In 1860, our parliamentarians also graced the new Parliament House on George Street for the first time, undeniably a beacon of democracy and dialogue that continues to this day. As we reflect on this momentous journey of Queensland Treasury, let's applaud their unwavering commitment to economic stewardship, their resilience facing the ebbs and flows of history, and their role in sculpting the prosperity of our state. Here’s to honouring the past and embracing the future, as we continue to write the story of success and innovation. Join us in celebrating this historic anniversary! #QueenslandTreasury165 #HistoryInMaking #OnwardsAndUpwards Queensland State Archives

Supporting women in economics ✨🏦 As a passionate economics professional in a largely male-dominated field, Grace Houlihan was selected to represent Treasury at the 2024 Women in Economic Network Retreat, bringing together aspiring female leaders across Australia. Drawn to the role that government economists play in shaping public policy, Grace started her career as a graduate in 2020 and now works as a Senior Treasury Analyst in the Government-owned corporations (GOC) Performance and Governance team. Joined by women in academia and the public and private sectors, the retreat was an opportunity to discuss key economic challenges and be mentored by some of the nation's leading female economists. "It was beneficial to hear directly from mentors about how they’ve overcome challenges, move into leadership roles and articulate their views effectively." #WomenInEconomics #PublicSector | Women in Economics Network

CS Energy partners with Queensland Airports Limited in renewable energy transition⚡🌿 This 7-year agreement will see two of Australia's busiest airports go 100% renewable on day one of the New Year.
CS Energy is excited to be partnering with Queensland Airports Limited (QAL) on its renewable energy transition, with a 7-year deal to provide 100 per cent renewable energy to power Gold Coast and Townsville airports' operations, starting at midnight on 1 January 2025. The airports collectively service over eight million passenger journeys annually, and as the gateways to major tourist destinations known for their natural environments, QAL seeks to be environmental stewards in the regions they serve, including preserving the natural environment on a day-to-day basis. We're supporting QAL to achieve its Net Zero 2030 target by supplying energy from our offtake portfolio in regional Queensland, which will offset almost 90 percent of QAL's Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions. Learn more about QAL's goals and how CS Energy is helping them achieve them in this video with CS Energy CEO Darren Busine and QAL CEO Amelia Evans. Amelia E.
