  • Our Melbourne Renewable Energy Hub has reached a significant construction milestone with 100% of the 444 battery units now in place. These units form three giant battery components that will deliver 1.6 gigawatt hours of energy storage when they come online next year. That’s enough energy to power 200,000 homes during peak periods, adding critical storage to Victoria’s electricity grid.  Now the battery units are in place, the next step is to connect them to transformers. We’re excited to continue our partnership with Equis Australia on this groundbreaking project! Find out more here: https://bit.ly/4iMTNnR

  • Spreading festive cheer at the Merry Morwell Festival was the perfect way to end a huge year for the SEC! It was great to be part of such a positive community event filled with performances, good food and friendly competition. We enjoyed speaking with attendees about the work SEC is doing, including demonstrating our electric home planner that is helping Victorians save on their energy bills. We also had fun building miniature renewable energy circuits with local school children. Thanks to Advance Morwell Inc for inviting us along, and congratulations on organising such a fantastic event. From all of us at the SEC, have a happy and safe festive season.

  • Today we announced we're building the SEC Renewable Energy Park, Horsham. It’s one of Australia’s first 100% publicly owned utility-scale renewable energy projects. The solar and battery project will help accelerate Victoria's transition to renewable energy and create around 246 jobs through its construction. Once operational in late 2027, the facility will be capable of generating around 242,000 megawatt hours of renewable energy a year – enough to power 51,000 homes.

Our big battery project is helping students discover the diverse and exciting careers on offer in the renewables sector. We were delighted to host our first school visit to the Melbourne Renewable Energy Hub. We offered Year 10 students from Melton Specialist School an inside look at the progress we’re making building one of the world’s biggest batteries and showcased the career opportunities Victoria’s renewable energy transition will provide. Thank you to the Centre for Disability Employment Research and Practice Glide In Program for helping make this possible. Equis Australia
