Some of our team had the privilege of touring the Constructionarium Australia’s water battery build—a remarkable initiative that brings together industry expertise and graduate talent for hands-on learning. It was a great opportunity to reconnect with familiar faces like the organisers and supporters, as well as meet the enthusiastic graduates participating in this unique program. The graduates shared how valuable they found the experience, with benefits including: ✅ gaining insights into tendering, negotiation and final offer preparation ✅ practical experience in planning, cost control, rigging and commissioning activities ✅ building connections with peers and seasoned professionals from across the industry. The energy and excitement among the graduates were palpable, and it’s clear how impactful this program is in shaping future leaders in construction. Sunwater is proud to support this initiative and programs like it that foster growth and collaboration within the industry.

Sunwater is honoured to support the Australian Water Association (AWA) partnership with the Cambodian Water Supply Association (CWA), driving innovation and capacity-building in Cambodia’s water sector. 💧 General Manager, Operations Darren Large represented Sunwater as part of a larger delegation of AWA members, supported by the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade. Darren said, "Over the course of the program, we engaged in strategic discussions on climate resilience and disaster response, and shared insights into managing assets to improve water quality and efficiency.” Site visits included the Svay Romiet Water Supply in Khash Kandal along the banks of the Mekong River. 🌊 In addition to the technical sessions, the program emphasised the importance of cross-cultural understanding and social inclusion, with a focus on gender equality, disability, and diversity (GEDSI). The presence of key leaders and experts from across Australia and Cambodia underscored the significance of this collaboration in advancing the development of the water sector. We look forward to the lasting impact of this exchange of ideas and solutions towards a more sustainable future for water management in Cambodia and beyond! #WaterManagement #Collaboration #Sustainability

Sunwater is making waves with Water Safety Awareness lessons in schools for Preppies to Year 6. 🌊 Over 950 students across 13 schools in Bundaberg, Gin Gin, South Burnett, and Pioneer Valley regions took part in Sunwater’s water safety program during late October and early November. 🛟 In just 10 days, our educators delivered 44 interactive lessons tailored to teach student about staying safe around dams, weirs, and channels. The program included sensory activities at the Bundaberg Special School to ensure accessibility for all learners. Now in its second year, this program has reached over 2,500 students across regional Queensland since its launch in late 2022, equipping them with vital knowledge about water safety, hazard identification, and responsible behaviour. Some of the positive feedback we received from teachers include: ✔️ “Students have formulated ideas around the risks and safety concerns in regard to water infrastructure.” ✔️ “Very informative—great for the adventurous kids and rural families… info relevant to the local area.” ✔️ “The presentation's content will allow students to reflect on ‘how’ they use water and what constitutes safe behaviour”. ✔️ “Water safety - around water channels, dams, spillways for students - a lot of students in class go fishing in these areas”. A big thank you to our educators at EnviroCom Australia for partnering with us to deliver such an impactful initiative! 👏 #WaterSafety #CommunityEducation #Sunwater

Rockhampton locals had a rare opportunity to explore the Fitzroy River Barrage last Saturday at its first Open Day in seven years. Around 3,000 visitors joined the tours, with many fascinated by the new northern fishway—a $7 million environmental offset delivered by Sunwater as part of the Rookwood Weir project. 🌊 The fishway is a game changer for native fish, giving 31 species access to 545 hectares of habitat. Its cone fishway design is built with clever features like resting pools and baffles, helping even the smallest fish navigate upstream and downstream safely. 🐟 🐟 🐟 A 3D-printed model sparked curiosity and made it easy to explain how this innovative system works. Together with Rockhampton Regional Council which owns and operates the barrage, we’re proud to support healthier ecosystems in the Lower Fitzroy River system. #CommunityEngagement #Sunwater #FitroyRiver

In total, 35 standout projects across 19 countries were selected, showcasing what’s possible when teams overcome challenges to deliver remarkable results on a global scale. 👏 Together with the alliance teams GHD, ACCIONA AU & NZ, and McCosker Contracting Pty Ltd, we get to celebrate Rookwood Weir’s recognition on the global stage!
