A new report published by @McKinsey & Company in partnership with @LeanIn surveyed nearly half a million women across 1,000 companies in the US. The report shows that senior-level women are 1.8x more likely to experience burnout as their male counterparts. This number reflects the greater mental load that women carry in both their professional and personal lives. Additionally, women at senior levels are more likely to shoulder responsibilities that go beyond their roles, including mentoring, supporting DEI initiatives, and addressing team wellbeing. So, what steps can companies take about this? At a structural level, we need solutions that go beyond flexible work policies and wellness programs. Real change may mean rethinking performance metrics, creating equitable opportunities for advancement, and promoting a culture where mental health is valued just as highly as productivity.
