🚀 West Tech Fest Wrap Up! Last week, the Venture UWA team enjoyed attending the Freo Startup Fest and West Tech Fest Main events. At Freo Startup Fest, we were excited to hear from the startup founders who shared their breakout successes. A special shoutout to Oscar Backhouse from Ocean Hex, one of our Venture UWA Incubator Program startups, for winning the sustainability award. Oscar and Jurgen Valckenaere are founders of the venture UWA Incubator Program, working on solving kelp reforestation. The Venture UWA team had an incredible time at the West Tech Fest - West Tech Coast event at Port Beach. We kicked off the day with a SeaGals & SeaPals beach swim, followed by a breathwork session and cacao ceremony led by Kylee Ellard www.kejustbreathe.com. The Welcome to Country with Smoking & Water Ceremony by Barry Winmar set a meaningful tone for the day. We were inspired by Linzi Boyd's talk on "The Purpose Economy: Green Innovation & Growth" and learned about the latest in green tech from Dean Miller's keynote on preserving the Great Barrier Reef Foundation was a highlight. The panel on impact investing with Olivia Brooks, 🌱🤝🌍 Nicolas Sauvage, Bill Tai, and Nicole Johnny, MBA, Daphne de Jong, ⭐️Robert Barton⭐️, Michael Wear and Amy Carter-James sparked some great discussions.
