As the high threat season commences, we look to our dedicated volunteers for support. Local Governments manage 563 Volunteer Bushfire Brigades (VBFBs) with approximately 20,000 volunteers and oversee funding for both VBFBs and the State Emergency Services (SES). WALGA's 2025 State Election Priorities calls for additional funding to support our volunteers as they support our communities. Learn more: https://lnkd.in/gWKpdwzg

💡WALGA’s 2025 State Election Priorities calls for more financial support for the underground power program including property connection costs. If we miss the chance to replace overhead power lines with underground lines, communities will be left with outdated technology for 50 years. Congrats to all the local Volunteer Firefighters acknowledged for their outstanding accomplishments recently at City of Busselton Emergency Services Volunteer awards 🔥🧑🚒👏🏅 These annual awards celebrate the dedication and courage of the City’s Volunteer Bush Fire Brigades and recognise the significant role they place in the safety and resilience of their communities. Did you know..❓❓❓ Local Governments are responsible for the initial fire response of over 91% of Western Australian? And... despite the important role of Volunteer Bush Fire Brigades (VBFB) in keeping our communities safe, the funding provided through the Local Government Grant Scheme (LGGS) is not sufficient 👎 WALGA's 2025 State Election Priorities calls for a review and redesign of LGGS to ensure it meets current and future needs of Local Government Volunteer Bush Fire Brigades, and increased funding and resources for Local Government VBFBs 👍 Well done to all award recipients, thanks for all you do...
