The Thomas Jack Park Precinct revitalisation reached a major project milestone yesterday with Council announcing the progression to detailed design for the new Dalby Cultural Centre in the park. Council released the draft design scheme, which includes multipurpose cinema, visitor information centre, art gallery and library, in October and the decision to progress to detailed design was unanimously endorsed during its Ordinary Meeting in Tara yesterday. Council will continue to engage with the community to help guide designs for the new outdoor play and recreation areas, gardens, greenspace, amenities and picnic facilities in the parkland. Community ideas and feedback has informed every step of this exciting, once-in-a-generation project to elevate Dalby as the Gateway to the diverse, vibrant region that is the Western Downs! Council has partnered with neighbouring residents, the local business community, arts and cultural groups, disability and aged care service stakeholders, youth and sporting groups and our local schools to progress this wonderful project for Dalby and the wider Western Downs Community. The cultural centre's detailed design phase is expected to be completed by May 2025. During this time, Council will also be finalising the design for the park. Once detailed designs are completed the next step will be the tender process for construction.
