Churchill Fellow Rod Hannifey is helping roads be safer by promoting guided rest stops for truck drivers. From the ABC: "Mr Hannifey said truck drivers from around the country had called him to say that his idea had saved their lives, which motivated him to continue lobbying." He's previously undertaken the NRMA-ACT Road Safety Trust Churchill Fellowship to improve heavy vehicle road safety in Australia by researching best practice in other countries. About us
The Churchill Trust was established in 1965 to honour the memory of Sir Winston Churchill, and offers Fellowships to Australian citizens and permanent residents. Churchill Fellowships are a life-changing opportunity to travel overseas for four to eight weeks to learn more about a topic or issue that you're passionate about. No educational qualifications are needed to apply, and you can choose your own topic. The next round of applications open 1 March 2023. Churchill Fellowships allow you to design your own investigative project, travel the world and further your knowledge in your chosen field, before returning to make a real contribution to Australian society. Since its inception, the Churchill Trust has awarded Churchill Fellowships to more than 4,600 Australians who, like Churchill, are innovative, filled with a spirit of determination and possess a strong desire to benefit their community.

"The outcomes are as diverse as the presenting problems." Joe Coyte (NSW, 2022) has published his #ChurchillFellow report into the evaluation of drug and alcohol rehabilitation programs. He found: "We need to assess outcomes, not just in terms of drug use, but in terms of wellbeing, welfare, family functioning, financial and housing stability and in terms of the risk of and actual return to problematic and harmful use." #Wellbeing #LearnGlobally #InspireLocally ➡️ https://lnkd.in/gEvwZcmq

Have you watched ‘𝙱𝚞𝚢 𝙽𝚘𝚠! 𝚃𝚑𝚎 𝚜𝚑𝚘𝚙𝚙𝚒𝚗𝚐 𝚌𝚘𝚗𝚜𝚙𝚒𝚛𝚊𝚌𝚢’ on Netflix? Eric Liedtke insights were incredible - eye opening and brutally honest. Next year, I’m excited to flip the narrative with my Winston Churchill Trust (Australia) fellowship. I’ll be spotlighting people driving positive change in fashion and tackling these issues head on. We love seeing our Fellows have greater and greater impact as time goes by. The passion, spirit and perseverance that Fellowships involve is something that never leaves. Congratulations to Anne Johnstone CF on her appointment as Principal of Cranbrook School. In 2004 Anne was awarded Northern Districts Education Centre (Sydney) Churchill Fellowship to study how to foster resilience in learning. She's a highly recognised leader; Anne was Principal of the Year at the 2023 Australian Education Awards. #ChurchillFellow #LearnGlobally #InspireLocally

Our thousands of Fellows are people with persistence, boldness and a freedom to explore. Our Fellows don't accept the status quo - they achieve change, even when they're told it's too hard. We're thrilled today that Megan Gilmour has been announced ACT Australian of the Year, for her work supporting children missing school due to complex medical or mental health needs. That follows another Fellow, Madeleine Buchner OAM being a finalist for Victorian Australian of the Year, for her work advocating for young carers. #ChurchillFellow #LearnGlobally #InspireLocally You can read more about Megan's journey here: https://lnkd.in/g8sY4RJJ
