The Australian retail payments landscape is transforming. A seismic pay-by-bank shift is underway. In this article, Colin Baines posits that, with Amazon, Red Energy and other familiar consumer brands now rolling-out PayTo, pay-by-bank's mainstream moment is imminent. "This presents a golden opportunity for retailers to not just adapt, but to thrive in this new era of real-time, account-to-account (A2A) payment experiences," says Colin. Banking has evolved to keep pace with the demands of today’s on-demand digital economy. But what exactly is the NPP, and how could it reshape the future of banking? Join Colin Baines, CCO at Zepto, for an in-depth discussion on real-time payment ecosystems, the future of payments, payment fraud and liability and how to navigate the ISO 20022 and ISO/IEC 27001 certification processes. In the wake of NAB's game-changing PayTo-for-Amazon announcement last week, it seems timely to revisit this recent article by Colin Baines. https://lnkd.in/gFcP8n76 "I think the ‘GFC generation’ is a driving force behind the pay-by-bank revolution. This generation went through the last recession, the last true downturn in the global economy. It’s driving a move away from credit, and into managing funds more effectively. These people are in their 20s and early 30s, and they’re shopping. They saw their parents go through financial hardship, they saw the impact of being overstretched with debt, and they felt it. They're credit averse. And they don’t see why they should have to use a card with a major scheme logo on it to shop online or buy a coffee," says Colin. Are your payments stuck in the '80s? They don't have to be. Join the real-time payments revolution. #TomorrowsPayments #PayTo #ABetterWayToPay

This. 🔥 Another massive moment for Australia's world class, #RealTimePayments ecosystem. #PayTo is gaining real traction across verticals as its utility, flexibility and reliability enable brilliant payment experiences like this one for Amazon. PayTo payments flow in real-time with consent between bank accounts. That might sound simple but, as a directly Connected Institution on the NPP for PayTo, we know a thing or two about what goes into delivering a solution like this. A huge #HatTip to NAB Corporate & Institutional Banking and all parties involved. Here's to 2025 being the year PayTo really takes off. Are your payments stuck in the 80s? We should talk. #ABetterWayToPay #TomorrowsPayments
Amazon joins the move to Australia’s payments future, offering PayTo as a new payment method to their customers. PayTo allows Amazon customers to pay directly from their bank account with a single click. Once an Amazon PayTo agreement has been authorised in the security of a customer’s online banking, PayTo can easily be used as a payment method for future Amazon purchases, making the checkout experience seamless. PayTo is available as a payment method to purchase products at Amazon.com.au. Read the full story in the The Australian Financial Review: https://lnkd.in/gUXCDGKr

A big thank you to Mastercard for an ace day at the Australian Open. 🎾 Zeptonians Colin Baines, Sarah Davoren, Suzie Slingsby GAICD and Richard Watson were lucky enough to attend what was an insightful and entertaining forum, with productive payments discussions and a panel featuring Jim Courier, Alex De Minaur and Pat Rafter on the agenda. The Mastercard powered Quick Serve 'just-walk-out' food & beverage store was a big hit, with punters paying through a wristband instead of a card. The future is definitely here, and we're so happy to be a part of an industry driving so much innovation. What an experience — we couldn't fault it. #TomorrowsPayments #Priceless
