The Opportunity:

As the Director of Student Finance and Scholarships, you will oversee all aspects of student fees and scholarships, ensuring a seamless and student-focused experience. Your role will involve streamlining financial processes, enhancing accessibility, and implementing technology to improve financial services. You will lead the development of a comprehensive scholarship framework, working closely with internal teams and external stakeholders, including donors, to align the program with the university's strategic goals. This is a leadership position that requires strong strategic and operational expertise, as well as the ability to drive initiatives that support student success and retention.


An example of duties you may perform will include:

  • Provide leadership and management of the Student Financials and Scholarships teams ensuring the key objectives are met and provide relevant professional development opportunities.
  • Manage the financial budget and other resources of the universities student scholarships program.
  • Collaborate with key VU stakeholders to lead the development, and continuous improvement, of VU’s holistic approach to scholarships, student prizes and awards.
  • Lead the team responsible for administering VU’s scholarship and student prizes and awards program including monitoring and reporting to the Chief Student Officer regularly on budgetary outcomes.
  • Provide strategic advice and support to the Vice-Chancellor’s Group and Chief Student Officer on scholarships, student prizes and awards.
  • Develop and maintain relevant policy, procedural and protocol documents consistent with current University legislative and policy requirements and manage the implementation of them across the University.
  • Provide authoritative advice to the Chief Student Officer on relevant matters relating to the Student Financials and Scholarships area in the context of the University’s positioning in a competitive market and act upon advice as appropriate.


About You:

You are an innovative and driven leader with proven experience in senior leadership roles within student financial services and scholarship administration. You will have a strategic mindset, with the ability to drive operational improvements and streamline financial processes.


You will also possess:

  • Demonstrated extensive experience of high-level management in a complex service environment, including the management of multiple internal and external stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide strategic and operational leadership across the functions of the Director Student Financials and Scholarships.
  • Demonstrated and proven experience in the management of student financials in an educational setting.
  • Demonstrated high-level communication, cross-cultural, negotiation and interpersonal skills to enable issues to be resolved with other staff, students and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to drive initiatives that enhance student access, success and retention through financial support.


Conditions & Benefits:

This is a full time, continuing position at a HEP 10 classification with a salary of $135,590.45 per annum, with 17% Employer superannuation, working 36.75 hours per week
